    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

To Make Sisyphus Laugh · 8:56pm Sep 4th, 2021

Did you know according to Spanish law, you can exercise legitimate self-defense against a kid, but not against a cow? One day I'll do a comic about Equestrian law, and I'll make it completely accurate to reality, and it'll come off as the stupidest shit I've ever written.

Anyway. So about the comic! Good news. My friends have succesfully bullied me into going whole hog on them. I'm becoming a fully-fleshed Comics Guy. This doesn't change anything for you, cause the comics will still be here, and I'm definitely not leaving Fimfiction? But it has some very exciting implications:

So! There's a physical book coming, which will collect my best comics! Eventually!

That is decided already -- Ponyfeather Publishing and I have talked about it extensively, and while it'll be a monumental work, I also think it'll be incredibly rewarding to go through it all, and end up with a physical copy of my own work. The title will be The Illustrated Aragón, and I can't wait to show you the cover art, and so on?

But it's going to take a while. Like, let me be clear about it -- RBDash47 and I will have to essentially re-edit every single comic so it's on A4 format instead of a strip format, and it's going to take ages. We'll also probably have to redo some pictures entirely, and quite likely I'll rewrite every single piece of dialogue by hand (or using a custom handwritten font if that looks good) to make it more readable.

It'll be a lot of work. The idea is that the book looks exactly like the digital comics (so, they'll be in color! and the background will be salmon!) but without making it too expensive. That'll involve a lot of, ahahah, ingenuity. But, fuck it! It's a project passion, and y'all deserve it. So look forward to it!

In the meantime, though.

First things first: there's an official twitter for the comics! It's aptly named AragonComics. I'll use it mostly to post snippets of the comics on twitter, announce whenever I post a new one, and stuff like that.

The reasoning behind creating this is twofold:

  • First, some friends of mine have seen people repost panels of mine to make memes on twitter. Which is great! It means they liked them, and that's genuinely appreciated -- but it also means that there's been a containment breach, and also, that people outside of Fimfic might find my comics enjoyable too.
  • Second, nothing wrong in trying to reach a new audience, is it? The more the merrier, damn.

So the Twitter, so far, links back to Fimfiction -- and as I said earlier, I'll always post my comics here as I have been doing up till now. But, as the Twitter says, I'm actively working on getting a dedicated website for the comics, both so more people have access to them (it's hard to navigate blogs if you're not a Fimfic citizen) and to facilitate an easy-to-access archive for all of them.

The website shouldn't take too long, in theory? But I'm not a coder, or a designer, so who knows how that'll be in practice. Got my people working on it already, so, fingers crossed. The moment it's up, you'll know about it before anyone else! Please look forward to it.

And that's that! As I said, if you're already following me on Fimfiction, this changes nothing for you -- you'll get the same comics at the same rate as before. But, yknow, it's exciting to try to see if I can become a Comics Guy outside of this website. If anything, it'll be a fun experiment, and you all get to say that you knew me before I branched out, which is a cool brag.

So! Wish me luck, I guess? Next comic is already written in my head, and I'll try to get it out as soon as possible -- it'll be a long one. In the meantime, make sure to follow the twitter and spread the word if you can! The more people get into the comics, the faster they'll come out, and the better they'll be.

This stuff is paying for my judge studies! I still can't believe I'll be an actual judge of the law one day because I draw the little horsies saying the funny words. What a world we live in. And look forward to the book also, why not. Look forward to everything. We need more of that in this day and age. Good expectations. Aaah.

See ya next time!

I read those tags and realized the commenter isn't necessarily wrong in that assessment.

If the kid is the one who made the cow attack you, you can claim self defense against it. But if the cow was provoked by another cow? It's the perfect crime. You can do nothing about it.

God I love studying Law.

One day I'll do a comic about Equestrian law, and I'll make it completely accurate to reality, and it'll come off as the stupidest shit I've ever written.

So the Phoenix Wright series, but Spain rather than Japan.

Good luck with the Cartoon Guy-ing! I look forward to having physical instances of the comic to baffle my friends and family.

There's absolutely a story here about the Bovine Conspiracy undermining Equestria and the princesses are powerless to stop it. Their only hope is...

Applejack.

What a world we believe in.

That's just the thing, we don't believe in it. It's too insane to believe, but that doesn't make it stop existing.

There's a physical book coming, which will collect my best comics!

Woo-hoo! :pinkiehappy:

Laws are just D&D rules that people believe have some basis in reality.

Ara, you're studying to be a judge? Wow!

To think, you look away for a little while and all of a sudden one of your favourite authors is an accomplished comic book artist and aspiring justice.

Good luck with the comics and the judging, Ara! Both sound very exciting.

Did you know according to Spanish law, you can exercise legitimate self-defense against a kid, but not against a cow?

Truth be told, I would love to know the back story behind this law and other bizarre bits of legal detritus from yesteryear.

No unicorn or dragons either, damnit! :ajbemused:

I called it :raritywink:

I remember a certain Bronycon, and pitching you on the idea. Even I didn't guess how well it'd go

I know a guy who ended up in the hospital because he was hit by a horse that was hit by another horse.

It was like billiards only he was the 8-ball
