Open for Commissions! · 7:51pm Aug 30th, 2021
Need something to kick my butt into gear, and I figure this is the best way to hold myself accountable.
Doing this as commissions and not requests because I was recently hit with a pretty big bill - not enough for me to worry about getting thrown out of my apartment or anything, but enough to make my savings wince. Also, if I do this for money, I'll be more likely to hold myself accountable for getting a product finished.
If you're interested in a commission, shoot me a PM with the title "Commission" and a short prompt; I'll look over them in a first come, first served manner, but I'm only going to be doing three (3) commissions right now since I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. Once I've hit my limit, I'll put a post up that I'm closed for commissions. No promises on whether or not I'll open them again, though.
Borrowing a bit from a friend for general guidelines:
1. Stories will be $.01/word. (E.g. a 1,000 word story = $10, a $2,000 word story = $20, etc.)
1.5. Each story will be at least 1000 words. If you want to set a range (minimum word count, maximum word count or both,) feel free to include that in your PM as well. Keep in mind that the stuff I generally write is fairly short, so my stories likely won't be super long unless you specify such (I'm not interested in "running up a meter" as much as I am interested in writing a good story, so I'm gonna try to cut the padding when applicable.)
2. Each story will be posted to Fimfiction upon completion.
3. I reserve the right to decline any commission, or ask for a prompt to be made more or less specific.
4. I will totally write clop or sexual comedy, but keep in mind I have the right to decline any commission.
5. Once I've received payment, I will complete the story within 24 hours. Even if i have to chug coffee until three in the morning to force myself to do so.
And, hey, if you folks are strapped for cash, that's fine. I realize that a lot of folks are, these days, and I don't hold it against them.
In any case, I hope your respective mondays are going well.
EDIT: based on insightful questions a commenter asked below, have some additional clarifications:
1. I hadn't considered a maximum word count, but it's probably best for me to limit it to 10,000 words unless specifically asked otherwise. My average writing range doesn't tend to exceed 4,000 words, though, so unless I'm deliberately asked to write something longer stories will probably be in the 1,000 - 3,000 word range.
2. I edit everything I write before putting it out there, and I won't make an exception here - I'm gonna treat stories that I post as if I had posted them for my own sake and for nothing else, so I'm going to try and make them as good as I'm capable of.
3. Between this, my work schedule and other obligations, I likely won't be able to write more than 5,000 words in a day - if somebody specifically requests something longer than that, then I hope you don't mind if I take an extra 24 hours worth of leeway for every additional 5,000 word chunk.
4. Automatic "No"s are topics that I wouldn't feel comfortable publishing to my account; I do write clop, but I'd probably turn down topics both clop and non-clop related that I would find actively unpleasant to write. The only things that currently comes to mind are nonconsensual clop(-pish) activities and cruelty for cruelty's sake, but if I can think of more than I'll make sure to list them as well.
5. I do research on subjects I'm unfamiliar with, which includes specific characters and settings; if I'm having trouble finding out information on a particular character or setting, however, I'll let you know. In general, I'm much more familiar with the show than I am with either EQG or the comics, but I'll try to get my hands on material I'm unfamiliar with through accessible channels if possible, and break it to youif I can't find the material otherwise and figure out where to go from there. And, of course, I'll include research in the 24-hour deadline.
Godspeed on this dangerous endeavor you are about to set out on. XD

Very good questions and points; in case it wasn't obvious, I haven't done this sort of thing before, so I'll go ahead and edit my list with your answers accordingly. Just so I can put it down here as well to answer your questions, though:

3. Good point about the complicated questions bit. I think it's probably fair to say that between this, my work schedule and other obligations, it's probably safe to assume that I won't be able to write more than 5,000 words in a day - if somebody requests something longer than that, then I'll likely ask for an extra day's worth of leeway for every 5,000 word chunk.
4. Automatic "No"s are topics that I wouldn't feel comfortable publishing to my account; I do write clop, but I'd probably turn down topics both clop and non-clop related that I would find actively unpleasant to write. 5. I'm not sure what sort of genres I wouldn't understand how to write, though there *are* certain genres that I haven't written before. Should I list those?
6-8. I do research on subjects I'm unfamiliar with, which includes specific characters and settings; if I'm having trouble finding out information on a particular character or setting, however, I'll let the commissioner know. In general, I'm much more familiar with the show than I am with either EQG or the comics, but I'll try to get my hands on material I'm unfamiliar with through accessible channels if possible, and break it to the commissioner if I can't find the material otherwise and figure out where to go from there. Thanks for helping me figure out what information I should provide, by the way. I greatly appreciate this.
