    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

Consider tipping, if you liked the comic. Sorry for the bother.

Thanks for the patreons for letting me do more experimental shit like this! And as always, special thanks to Mousse, MrNumbers, and Pearple Prose, for the help and the encouragement.

God I fucking love Diamond Tiara, man.

Discord link.

Applebloom is the best part about this, a comic comprised of only best parts.

Also deeply appreciate the visual metaphor of cracking an egg for, uh, growing up in a certain kind of household.

5575157 We had chickens at the farm, so most of everything we made involved cracking eggs.... Oh, wait. Metaphor.

I love my dorky tortoise.

Well somewhere Silver Spoon is feeling left out.

Not gonna lie, panel 44 made me a bit misty-eyed.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I shouldn't neglect the fact that I laughed out loud at her spitting out the whisk! :rainbowlaugh:

God that's so good. I didnt expect a perfect analogy from the gay pink one (unspecific, I know) but this was genuinely thoughtful

Panel 36 is SO me. Like, 100%. But when I do cook it comes out really well. At least by my standards.
But I agree with 5575190. Panel 44 was very sweet.

And I love how you've practically always managed to get some kind of medical term in my shoutouts. Rather appropriate, I'd say. :trixieshiftright:

This is some good stuff, and it suits Diamond so well.

That's a ship I really have to write one day - definitely nailed Diamond Tiara and how far she's come... and the things she hasn't gotten past yet. Delightful comic, Aragon.

  1. You do way too much work on the Patreon shout-outs. Srsly. You should stop doing mine because you have too many to do. :fluttershysad: Even just the high-pay Patrons are too much work. I don't want to say you should charge more for the art but you should because you're wonderful and I don't want you burnt out.
  2. (...although your beautiful, glorious bugsbando drawing makes me weak with food)
  3. I don't know when I will ever be able to use 22 as a reaction image but it's already in my Ponis Captionis folder for Speed Dial 2 Pro
  4. I've never been a fan of DiamondBloom and now I suddenly am
  5. Sorry about your mom-analogue. I mainly say this because not enough people offer me condolences for my stories :trollestia: :raritycry:

This is just beautiful.

I love panels 46 and 50.

Fucking spectacular as always

My soul is nourished by this boon of immaculate DiamondBloom.

I am yours to do with what you will.

"I hate my mother, but-"

WHOA HOL' UP

I am sucker for Diamond Tiara shipping and anything Diamond Tiara related.

This was good. Thank you.

And I love how you've practically always managed to get some kind of medical term in my shoutouts. Rather appropriate, I'd say.

I do it on purpose! "Medical veteran" are the first words in your bio, and the first time I saw it I thought you meant like, a veteran doctor? So I added something medicine-esque for the fun of it. Then I read the rest of the bio, noticed my mistake, and kept it anyway as a lil easter egg. I like the continuity!

Also massive fucking shoutout to you, iisaw, cause Understanding Comics is what gave me like, the hype-up needed to go "fuck it!! play with establishing shots and angles!" in this comic. Next 'freebie' comic I do, which are traditionally more fourth wall break happy, you're at least getting a cameo for it, I guarantee you.

5575253

I do it on purpose! ... I like the continuity!

Well, no friggin' wonder. :rainbowlaugh: Keep up the good work!

DiamondBloom? :O That's not one you see much of anymore. Nice.

Egg!

Didn't even notice the Larkin in the tags the first time.

5575273
I’m gonna write more DiamondBloom specifically because of this comment.

Nice, though I do miss the usual text boxes that introduce the characters with a Borderlandsesque tag line.

The hearts are a clever distraction...

Diamond making a cake for Apple Bloom even though she hates cooking is amazing. You write a very insightful Diamond Tiara. Also her reasoning for not being defined by her trauma being that she's too pretty for that is peak Diamond Tiara.

This comic made me realise that Earth ponies must have brain anatomy similar to woodpeckers in order to avoid giving themselves concussions. Just imagine whisking eggs with your mouth (and by extension, head) at any appreciable speed. :rainbowderp:

Very sweet stuff... but yeah, Diamond's a little cracked herself. Still some legitimately good advice that ultimately stems from the least likely source.

Also, Estee's blurb made me literally laugh out loud the first time I saw it.

And now I need to go re-read a Gay old Time

This was really sweet. Never thought much of DiamondBloom, but this was a heartwarming presentation of them, and of a post-reformation Diamond.

Aragon, have you had the pleasure of watching The Owl House? Because this entire conversation, tone and scenario works perfect with Amity Blight.

5576247
I have, but funnily enough, I only did after writing this. I like it a lot!

If you ask me, though, the tone and the occassional sassy bit ("trauma doesn't define me, I'm too pretty for that" "I know I'm not supposed to say it's beneath me, but c'mon") kinda make it completely Diamond Tiara, and not Amity at all.

I love this comic and, curiously, I also dislike cooking, but at the very least try to do it well. I didn't expect that much insight when I started reading it, although I started to suspect once I got to the part DT said her mother meant it.

I must also add that I love your poetic Patreon shout-outs, I mean, how do you think all of these things? Paradise made mind? Skinned your worst nightmare and now wears is as a coat? Smuggled hope to fight the void? Damn good stuff, and I can feel the appreciation.

Thank you once more for everything.

Is this autobiographical? I don't think it is, but the last sentence on panel 18 is making me wonder.

This comic got me to buy cake batter while buying groceries today. I know it's just a literary tool, but now I have cake!

5576400 I mean Aragon could be the prettiest horse around, I would never doubt.

5575244
From other stuff we've heard, Aragon's parents are if anything too supportive of his Aragon-ness. All that was purely Diamond Tiara being Diamond Tiara and we've seen what her mother is like.

Half of these $20 patreon rewards read like plots to your stories that haven't been written yet

I loved this Diamond Tiara

So cute. So gay. Ftw.
