    So... I got featured

Not sure if this is the first time this has happened to me since I had to turn off mature to see this so I could have had multiple stories featured before and never noticed. But yeah... neat.

A long walk down a dark road returns

After a few months of being down I finaly reuploaded A long walk down a dark road.

Fair warning I changed the protagonist in the modern equestrian from Shining Armor to Trixie. I also made it Anthro. though Level 2.5 anthro, where they are the same size as MLP Ponies but walk on their hind legs and have fingerers.

Howdy, Its been *checks calendar* 4 months since I last updated you all so here's what has been happening. I've been trying to find my groove for writing back and good news I may have found it. Bad news I might not post what I'm writing here, for now.

Minor rant · 4:42am Aug 23rd, 2021

You know what I hate, when people don't read the story or miss one important detail then complain or whine about information the detail answered.

I have two examples, The first example is that I was writing a story and had a pre-reader ask me where the protagonist acquired a minor plot item that they got in the chapter that they read, so I explain it to them and the pre-reader says "Then explain it in your story." like Asshole its explained in the chapter you said you read.

The second one is something that I got twice in my stories. I have two published stories where I explicitly say the ponies are humanized, its to avoid the whole 'Ah the human is a monster' cliche that most HiE stories like to do, I even described Fluttershy as a Human girl in the first chapter and I still got a few comments saying 'this doesn't seem like ponies, maybe you should put an anthro tag on this.'... did you even fucking read the story where I repeatedly described the ponies as Humans.

These things are why I'm kinda burnt out on writting

Hmm... Either some people are blind literally or they are selectively blind... Though i must say that i see this kinda thing way too often. People complain about some minor or major detail that's been explained multiple times in what they read.

I agree

It's ridiculous regardless, especially when I have to put up with it at work every day.

"How do I swipe the card?"

I put my finger in the slot at the top of the payment device.

"Same spot, same way as before the remodel, get it in the slot." I answer. This continues so enough that I often have to swipe the card for them, some try to swipe it from side to side on the top when it's still on the right side along the light.

"What's it asking me?"

The first question asked when using a card is "do you want cash back?" And the 5 options are "No CB" and $10-40.

"How do I say no?"

If they have to ask, they shouldn't even be using it in the first place. It asks for their PIN next.

"How do I do credit?"

"It should say what button to press under the box." I answer. The machine will say 'press Enter for alternate tender' or 'press Enter to process as credit'.

"It doesn't say anything!"

I point to the instructions, read them out loud, and press it for them.

Or people who try to use the self checkout when there are 2 signs right in front of the screen saying "please use other register", the screen itself says the register is closed, and the regular scanner is covered. The only way it could be more obvious is if these things were punching them.

Or as a result ofthe remodel, my register no longer has a conveyor belt, and is half the size. Three bags takes up almost half my space, and I frequently get customers who don't pick up any bags until after I'm almost done, or until they've paid for it. These people don't understand that the less room I have to work with, the harder my job becomes, and the harder it becomes, the more items that don't get bagged right. If I don't have any room, guess who's getting bread bagged with dryer sheets, dirt, and canned goods? I could ask them to do what they're supposed to be doing from the start, but I shouldn't have to basically ask the customer permission to the very thing I get paid to do.

Or people who try to combine sales that can't be mixed.
"These sodas are 3 for 11!" They say.
"The sign specifically said pepsi/ mountain dew. Fanta is a coke product, and Dr. Pepper is delivered by pepsi, not made by them. None of what you got can be mixed." I respond.

People who wait until after I'm done scanning everything and totaled the transaction before saying they want to put in their phone numbers for digital coupons, because they for reasons beyond mortal understanding couldn't do that while I was scanning the $300 of shit they got even though that screen doesn't go away until I total it. In those cases, my time is worth more to me than what they want to save, so I total it again just before they press "confirm" so they think it went through, but don't save anything, and can't call me out on it.

My friendliness is limited by my patience with a lot of those people, but I make sure not to say anything too disrespectful to those living proofs that I'm surrounded by people who are alive because someone else more deserving didn't get whatever miracle is keeping them alive.
