The Israel/Gaza Situation Has Me Broken

    Already on Step 4

Check this out if you have zero clue what I'm talking about haha.

Did bodyweight squats in front of my physical therapist, and they were good!! Super smooth, great range of motion, and zero tightness for the first few sets. This puts me on step 4 out of 5.

Plan to Cross the Finish Line

Gameplan my physical therapist and I made to overcome my joint issues once and for all. I'd say I'm 90% there, so here is the plan for the last 10%. Primary remaining issue is the left hip weakness causing me to shift much of my weight onto the right hip, which also causes my entire trunk/upper body to twist to compensate for the lean. This messes up my shoulder blade movement as well, leading to

Can Almost See the Light at the End of the Tunnel

After almost a full decade of pain affecting my waking hours, sleep, ability to exercise, and ability to just have fun, I'm almost done!!!!

I define me being done as: Being able to exercise, sleep, stand, sit, lie down, and walk with no pain, instability, or unevenness. It's hard to put a number on a goal like this, but I'd say I'm 85% there.

    Almost Done Beating Genetics

Ughhhhhh why can't I be 100% done, though :raritydespair:

Alright, so despite basically every joint having issues at first, I can minimize the major starting issues to:
    - Right hip tear + instability
    - Left hip tear + instability
    - Left shoulder instability
    - Right shoulder instability

The two bolded ones were the biggest issues. As of now, I have:

Art From the Pits of Hell · 1:23am Aug 23rd, 2021

I miss my dumb titles :rainbowlaugh:

Here's some art stuff from the past two months. The lessons were about simplfying this stuff to the basics, namely perspective and being able to create anything quickly from boxes and curves. As much as I like spending 45 min to create a pretty picture, the goal is to create a 90% pretty picture in 5 minutes.

Basic form-building and construction out of boxes to create vehicles. You can also make cylinders and any random shape you can think of, as shown above. Motorcycles are still way too hard for me, however. Haha.

More form-building. I'm going to focus on details later on, since so much of that comes down to personal style.

Yay, made a rocket haha.

Two more rockets, each above a horizon line. The bottom one has a stick figure gazing at it haha.

More random shapes, since these are the building blocks for much more complex structures.

Yet more random shapes + some fun with organic lines.

Yay, I can finally make curved roads and rivers!

Some fun with curves to create depth. Need to get a lot better at this.

Made a leaf with no reference. Not even up to the nature section in my guide. Curves + perspective = awesome.

Opened boxes to learn diagonals in perspective.

A fully opened box.

Using the knowledge of diagonals to create the roof of a barn.

More complex diagonal structures, including stairs.

.......

And now, creating heads from boxes!!! Warning, I did this very quickly, with no ruler, with no reference, and only to show you how to do it. Your personal style makes a giant difference with this.

As for why: I am an IDIOT when it comes to art and have ZERO intituion. So I need boxes as the basis of my heads, especially when vertical rotation, camera angle changes and various tilting come into play.

Section 1: Rotating the head from front to side.
Section 2: Bringing the camera above and below the horizon.

Section 3: Rotating the head upward. Warning, this is independent of bringing the camera up.
Section 4: Rotating the head along the third axis that everyone finds extremely frustrating haha. Call this side tilting.

Section 5: A head rotated 45 degrees up, shown both above and below the horizon line.
Section 6 (on the upper right corner): Showing how curves behave in perspective. This shows why a smile looks the way it does when seen partially from the side.

Now for an example with actual heads and faces in a quick and simple art style I made up on the spot. Warning, you don't actually have to draw the head within the box. You can just use it to find your contour lines.

Section 1: Side to side rotation
Section 2: Head rotates up
Section 3 (middle left): Above and below horizon line
Section 4: Tilting head to the side
Section 5: Head rotated up + camera angle changes

Overall, I still suck at art. I just suck a little less now :facehoof:

Ever thought of becoming an architect for spacecrafts? :ajsmug:

5572885

Later on in my made-up guide, I have to draw a bunch of vehicles and mech robots. So yeah, I could do spaceships too :rainbowlaugh:

I dare you to draw one of the villains from MLP. Doesn't matter who, just one of your favourites. EqG and comic villains not included, just because. :trollestia:

5573004

Considering I could barely draw a smiley face stick figure a couple of months ago, I have many guides haha.

How long have you been drawing for? Because the stuff I prefer is for people who have zero talent and intuition for art and need to babied the whole way through. For example, using boxes for heads to understand the perspective.

Keep up the grind man, you're getting pretty good, wish I had the determination to do something I hate, I barely have the determination to do what I like!

5573107

Thanks, dude!

And this is far from a grind, since I'm barely drawing 5 hours a week haha. Even my process of getting better is simply a way for me to be lazier. For example, all this perspective stuff allows me to be faster, meaning I don't need to spend as much time drawing.

5573111
Are you starting to actually like drawing? I think I remember you saying that you wanted to learn because it was a field you were unpracticed in... so is it starting to turn into a loathing, loving, or love-hating?

5573145

I had no choice but to learn because I wanted to create a story that I felt would be best shown through a comic. So even though I am the most untalented artist ever, I had zero choice haha.

And honestly, I'm sorta indifferent to it. It's cool being able to see my drawings, but drawing is mostly boring to me. I enjoy writing so much more.

5573154
Hmm, I see, learning to draw to improve the thing you love, a noble goal, but seriously don't cut yourself short! You gotta give credit where it is due, you were decent at first and now you've gotten way better. It makes me mad when people don't realize their potential!

But ye, I gotcha, writing is where it's at, the few fleeting moments I have written have been a rush! Oh yeah, by the way, if you remember that writing thing I was planning? Yeah, didn't quite pan out, turns out I know fewer people than I thought on this site haha

5573173

Honestly, just YouTube 1-point and 2-point perspective. Assuming you don't know about perspective already.

Everything I'm doing is based off perspective. Because once you can do boxes in perspectives, then you create curves within those boxes and squares. And once you can do boxes/squares and curves, you can do pretty much everything.

5573033
FIne, let me clarify that. A new drawing.

5573406

Deal. I'll do it when I go back to making full ponies. So maybe in a month or two.

5573532
Two weeks, or I get a point. :trollestia:

5573776

Does the drawing have to be good? :rainbowlaugh:

5574075
No, but you have to put some effort into it.

5574162

Hmmmmm

Challenge accepted

5574398
Ok, two weeks from today, I expect to see a drawing. Wait, where did we get up to with that little competition? I'm sure it was 4:3 in my favour.

5574439

Uhhh I already posted the drawing on your user page
