Settled in Vegas, with my faithful feline furball Blip sleeping peacefully on my bed (and NOT trying to cover the keyboard...). Been a while since I lived on my own, with little support and less companionship. I'm managing. At least I got WHATDG finished, and planning another trip, on a different ship, down a different river, to a different set of problems. First problem is fitting it in between

    Well, that move didn't work...

Moving to Texas proved to be a bust, so, next month (2 Dec) I'll be packing my goods and heading to Las Vegas. Well, me and Blip, that is. Looking forward to peace, quiet and privacy. Living with a family that without my roomie's generosity would be living out on the streets is very taxing on my sanity and my wallet. The hope is there that with my new living situation, I will be able to settle

    Back to writing, I... hope...

Started chapter 18 on Voyager, what's on the LST, where did the ponies go, and stuff like that. Hope I can keep up the pace. First writing since October. Let's see what happens next.

    Texas, part two

in new home in Texas now. Blip made the trip successfully and is now either getting acquainted with the other six cats, or is cowering behind the bed. If so, she'll come out.

Back at it, somewhat. · 8:36pm Aug 19th, 2021

Boy, that vacation was a disaster. Flights missed, delayed, postponed, cancelled, being awake for 40 hours...unfun. NEVER AGAIN will I fly American Airlines. If I want to go to San Angelo, I'll take Delta!

Monday, 2 Aug 2021. Awaken in San Angelo around 0830 CDT. Go to the local airport about two. Was early enough to catch an earlier flight to DFW. All well and good. Get to DFW, get to gate for my flight to Vegas, which takes off at 1900 CDT. Yeah, right.... delay, delay, delay, delay, then cancelled the flight at 2230. Line at help counter for AA stretched for eight gates. At 2330, they decided to cut the line off because it was late. They cut the line six people in front of me. Joy.

Get on computer (fortunately, DFW has a LOT of places to sit down, plug in and get on wifi) and managed to get a flight to LAX at 0900 CDT, changing to a Las Vegas flight at 1130 PDT. Well, the 0900 flight boarded, and we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, at 1200, the crew said we're getting another airplane, all passengers get off and go to gate D2. Long walk. By this time, have been awake over 28 hours.

Boarded new plane and took off for LAX at 1300 CDT. Arrived on time, but my connecting flight had long since left and the airline put me on a flight for the next day. NO F'ING WAY! Much shorter line at help window, got 2000 PDT flight to LAS. Arrived 2115 PDT. Glad I was staying at MGM Grand, not far away. Only a $23 cab fare. Get to room at 2200. Take long shower, go down get some food, go back to room and drop at 2400, not waking till 1100.

Going back to Vegas in October, flying Southwest this time. One flight to Burbank, stay on plane, go to Vegas. Return trip direct to SLC. Hope this trip I'm not so damn hammered and sick, I can hardly remember anything. Here's hoping.

Back to writing, but not like before. Still low on energy and throat has been itchy for days. Then again, the smoke here in SLC is so damn thick, you can cut it into chunks...

Posted new Tidalverse today. Not giving up on that...

I've had my problems with American Airlines over the years, including missing a connection back to Australia, but your experience beats my worst.

By the way, I started reading Along New Tides because of your story.

I hope you enjoy ANT as much as I do. He put a lot into that tale. I helped out starting on the sunken sub arc. Gee, I wonder why...

How far you think the Demons will go in the playoffs? I just hope the Bombers make it in!

The D's have it in them to win the Grand Final. That said, I've been disappointed too many times, so I'm not holding my breath.

dang it sure sounds like you had Murphy as a travel partner for the hole trip.
i feel for you friend.
please do take time to relax and recoup after that mess.

You didn't run into a somewhat overweight, friendly guy with a moustache, selling shower curtain rings at any point, did you? :trollestia:

Definitely always avoid American. Any airline that trains its pilots to accidentally rip their own vertical stabiliser off is not someone I want to fly with. I'll stick with good old Speedbird thanks, Southwest have a great safety record too though.

No, did not meet any working salesmen either at DFW or LAX.

I flew American because I thought it was the only airline into San Angelo. Saw a billboard there that said Delta has flights there too. Next trip to San Angelo, I'll fly Delta. I hope.
