Vent; I’m feel like a bad writer · 7:28pm Jul 29th, 2021
Sorry, don’t know why I’m doing this, maybe some will have a magical answer.
Anyways, hi 👋 yeah…
So two things in particular made this weigh on my mind;
The first being the deadline for the renaissance contest Deadline in two days, and me barely with do-able story (let only anything that might win anything) mostly because of irl stress, but also ties into the second point.
-someone reviewed one of my stories and it was a negative review
But first: DO NOT go attack the reviewer (if you know who they are, but I’m not linking for that reason). Their review was fair, and that’s actually the problem. They pretty much laid it all on the table why, even with wanting to be a writer, I can’t seem to do anything more than write ‘Okay’ stories. From sucking at grammar, bad pacing, having interesting ideas but either doing nothing good with them or not going far enough with them to leave an emotional impact…
I don’t want to say it’s broken me, but with my drive low these past couple months and now this,
I’m not sure how anyone can help, but that’s where I’m at.
Thanks for reading ❤️
We're all bad writers at first. It's frustrating/discouraging when someone or something points it out, and yeah, you'll probably feel bad a for a while, but that's not a reason to stop if you really want to be a writer.
Learn form your mistakes, listen to the good advice, research and practice till you get better. It may take a few stories, it may take a hundred, but without practice and experience and learning you won't go past that stage.
Cheer up my friend, you'll get there eventually.
Well, the only way we get better is with criticism and practice. It's how we grow. It can be upsetting, but it's not meant to hurt you. Maybe look at their critique and see what you can learn from it, and then find ways to improve.

Thanks, guys 🫂
It’s not so much that I, don’t, know, understand, or even will apply that later, it’s more an issue of self doubt about doing this for years and still not feeling any better
I consider you a good writer, your couples are very convincing to me and the setups always flow well. You may struggle in the grammar area, but it is not so bad that it hurts the story. Don’t let one review bring you down, just keep writing if it makes you passionate and happy
