Hey, everyone! How are you all doing today? :)
I'm doing well, myself, but I wanted to go and and write another short blog today regarding a situation that happened earlier this month.
Before I get into things, I did just want to thank you guys for the support you've given me during my time on Fimfiction. In truth, I find it harder to write as time goes on and I grow older. It's a shame, but it is what it is and I have to try and find ways to adapt. Still, that's not what this blog is about.
Our website has a problem. That problem is two-fold.
1. Pedophiles have seemingly taken up residence on this site and are using it as a way to push their rhetoric in an effort to be accepted.
2. Some of the users on this site are actually defending them.
In my last blog, I made it clear that I did not understand the situation entirely, but I gave my base thoughts on pedophilia. However, I have done research since that time.
So the crux of this situation is that, after the entire ordeal with Princess Cadance, it's grown blatantly clear to me that some of the users on this site would bend over backwards to defend the honor of an admitted pedophile. Not only an admitted pedophile, but one who attempted to use a story to push their disgusting rhetoric and attempt to pull people over to their cause.
To be clear, I am not saying I'm fine with them writing a suicide note. What I am saying, as I said in my last blog, is that someone writing a suicide note should absolutely under no circumstances absolve someone of any wrong-doings. Princess Cadance wrote an E-Rated story with the intention of making pedophilia seem less gross, in an effort to be accepted. Their second to last blog post detailed their desire to be accepted.
And yet, I saw so many people defending PC and saying things like "You didn't do anything wrong, we still love you!" or "Don't listen to the haters, PC, you're awesome!".
People calling out pedophilia is not "hating" and to be quite blunt, no, most rational people do not 'love' PC after what they did.
Even outside of this situation, this site has a major fucking problem with bending over backwards for literally anyone who posts a blog crying about how they were pushed back against for saying or doing something idiotic or hateful, and god forbid you tell someone they fucked up if they write a blog titled "I quit the site, everyone hates me". Nope, every single comment will be of people telling them that they're valuable and did nothing wrong.
People, it is not wrong to call others out for the horrible things they do while at the same time feeling compassion for them as a fellow human being. Just remember that the next time you see a situation like this. Nobody is immune to criticism.
Also, just gonna say it: If you think pedophilia isn't a problem, fuck you.

TL;DR We shouldn't be afraid to call out people who do shitty things, regardless of the backlash we may face from people who agree with their horrible cause. Pedophilia is wrong, full-stop, and if you disagree then you are just wrong, plain and simple. It is up to us to keep this website free of this filth.

Honestly no should inflict themselves with suicide. With that I’m glad that PC is still alive. But this situation would not have happened if the people who ran the site never allowed foalcon in the first place.

Personally I have a disdain for foalcon, but I know that it's not technically illegal and regardless of my thoughts on it, knighty has always been an incredible admin during my time here. Man deserves an award for dealing with all of the crap he does on a near daily basis, haha.
I just think we as a community need to do better at actually holding people accountable for what they do. I'm glad PC didn't commit suicide, but I am 100% glad they deleted their account because that's one less pedophile on the website.

But seriously, I agree with what you have said here. I am tired of not only the growing acceptance for pedophilia here, but also the toxicity of transphobic people flooding trans stories with their cancer and downvote bombing anything trans related.
It makes me sick. I love this site, but stuff like that makes me not want to use it some days. I agree as a community we should call this stuff out and not accept people who aim to normalize pedophilia. It's gross, and there is a damn good reason any reasonable person on this site is getting sick of seeing it.

I find it insane to be honest that stories regarding trans characters are somehow viewed as more controversial than foalcon by a large portion of the website. I'll be the first to admit that I don't always see eye to eye with people, but how can someone possibly see a story about gender dysphoria and leave a hateful comment?

It's uh, well, it's a shocking double standard, isn't it? I've already given my thoughts on the whole mess with pedophilia. It honestly amazes me that a lot of people, in regards to transphobia, would miss the entire point of the show we watched. No wrong way to be a girl right?
I confess, it does make me not want to use the site somedays. I'm already distant thanks to my current fandom obsession with Ladybug as is.

My general view on pedophiles is that they are to be shamed and shunned by society. They have no place in this world in my opinion and when it came to PC's "suicide note" I figured it was nothing more than an attempt to see how many people truly felt sorry for her/him....I'm not sure what gender PC is. My overall view though is that if someone like that does something like that, don't show them sympathy or say "Oh everyone loves you" to them because that is a lie. I personally despise pedophiles on an infinite level. If a pedophile goes on like PC and actually does kill themselves, I personally think it is a good thing. Yeah I may sound cold and heartless but that is one less threat to the kiddos out there so everybody wins, right?

I personally despise foalcon. I despise it to the point where I banned it from my primary promotion group. My view is that it has no place in my promo group and I would honestly love it if knighty would not only ban it but if anyone on here openly admits to being a pedo or does things like PC, wipe out their profile entirely. I do honestly believe what I say, pedos must be shunned and shamed to the point where you can either get them to seek help and change or simply break them. The people who offer them emotional support are no better. I for one am glad PC is gone from this site although I'm sure there are others just like her/him, just not as vocal.

I agree, the person making the threats is the one who is ultimately responsible for their actions, no matter how much they may try to pin the blame on us for not supporting them and trying to get them to not go through with it. Of course I'm the type that would never talk about things like that on a public forum for the whole world to see. I've been in a situation like that (threatening suicide) and I went to my family for help and I got the help I needed with only them and the folks at the behavioral health ward knowing about it. Doing it on a public forum like this makes me think they aren't even serious, all they want is attention. A true cry for help goes out to those who can help you and care about you, not random strangers online who have no idea in hell who you really are.

This was over more than a fanfic. PC made some sort of long blog post about how we should all support foalcon, support pedophilia and even write foalcon ourselves. PC made a ton of enemies with that post and then left a suicide post on here. Given how PC behaved, I don't think it was even legitimate, I think it was just her/him trying to get sympathy and who knows, maybe even drum up support for foalcon and pedophilia in general. PC either deleted their profile or the site admins wiped it out because that user is no longer on this site at all. Oh well, one less diva on this site causing drama.

The ACLU famously did advocate for the KKK and neo-Nazis in court when their right to say stupid shit was infringed, because they considered this principle to be worth protecting, no matter who was being protected.
If you don't believe that everyone's right to "bad" expression should be protected, that can be a perfectly consistent position, as long as you remember it when President Shitler gets elected (or Administrator Shitler takes over the site) and decides that all this "degenerate" LGBT+ stuff has to go (and no that is not my opinion).
If you're going to argue instead that "it's OK when we do it because we're right and they're wrong", then I can just stop right now, because that's a value judgement, not a principle, and there's no point arguing-on-the-internet over that.

You misread the quote. "We don’t need to protect society’s treasured ideas and institutions [because] they pose no danger to us [and] we pose no danger to them", which means that we do need to protect "bad" ideas because otherwise we'll get rid of them for being "dangerous". Agreed on the final part. What I see as things that must be silenced are things that others may not see as bad so there is no need to argue. We aren't going to change one another's minds.
The thing I find so funny about this comments section is every comment that has anything saying "fuck pedos" has downvotes. If you are downvoting, leave. You don't belong anywhere but hell. Bye 👋
