    Apologies.

So yeah... sorry to all my followers and the people who favorited the first chapter of "She Who Would Be Queen" (SWWBQ). I know that you all really would like to have me put out new content and writing, but life's been... tough? I'm not even sure how to describe things. Even when I have the free time to write, I'm just not in the right place emotionally to write for the stories I've started.

Is Writing a True Form of Art?

The question is somewhat rhetorical. I mean, of course writing can be art, right? That's something I think we can all reasonably agree on. We wouldn't be on this website if we didn't enjoy a well-written story from time to time, but isn't art supposed to allow for flaws and imperfections? Some art is almost completely defined by what some might label as errors, but writing can be nearly

    I'M NOTHING BUT LIES!

Well, it turns out my last blog post was incredibly inaccurate. Who knew that being deployed in the desert, working 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day would put such a huge damper on any progress I'd hope to make writing stories? I've been using most of what free time I do have to tend to other, more needy and pressing hobbies, but I have been working diligently on my rewrites for Snowflake the

    Yes, I'm Still Around.

Any of you following me may have started having doubts. Did I leave the fandom? Did I quit writing? Was I even alive? Well, here's your answers...

    HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!

Game references FTW! So... I'm taking a short break from SWWBQ to write a seasonally inspired fic called Snowflake the Snowpony. Yes, it will be cheesy, and yes, it will probably follow an expected pattern, but I can't shake the idea from my head ever since I thought of it tonight. Seriously, I wrote over 2.5k words in about 4 hours working on this thing. The description is up on my

2 blogs in 1 day? Madness!

So I figured I would give a short preview of stories I currently have in the works. Keep in mind all titles are still tentative and there will be nothing that I consider 'spoilers' in terms of revealing key plot points.

-She Who Would Be Queen
This will be a short story that takes a different look at when Nightmare Moon was hit with the Elements of Harmony. The main idea for this story comes from one of our members in the FOB Equestria Skype chat group. He said that the idea that Nightmare Moon/Luna was just magically 'all better' without any sort of reason never sat right with him. His original idea was this: Luna was shown the vast consequences of her actions, having all the sorrow, pain, and hurt she caused forced into her consciousness within a matter of seconds. I've taken vast artistic license with this, so we'll see just how much he likes the finished product (since I am writing this for him). I should be done with the RD sometime this weekend, then it will probably be in editing at least another week.

-The Light of Midnight
Another short-ish story to further hone my writing skills. This will be another prequel (in a sense) to my larger fanfiction project. The main character is my OC (Midnight Spangle). In a manner of speaking, he is me, but he isn't me. I'm essentially taking a part of my personality and who I tried to be for much of my life, and I'm making that his primary personality. He is the leader of the Night Guard pegasi and Truth Seeker's father (if you've read WNaDC, you know what I'm talking about). The story takes place right before one of the major conflicts in my larger project (that's the ONLY detail you get about the larger project's story), and centers around Midnight reflecting on his life as he makes his battle preparations, as this battle could be his last. He's looking at what drives him and makes him who he is. In other words: lots of flashbacks. It will have multiple chapters, and I plan on each chapter focusing on a different memory. It will not be integral to understanding the larger story, but it will provide more background on one of it's lesser characters. No definite timeline on this at the moment.

-Burden of Truth
This is that larger project. Planned to be over 100k words, it will follow the OC Truth Seeker, the Chief Advisor to Celestia. If you've read WNaDC, you might have pieced together that this is about 10 or so years later after Nightmare Moon's return. Let me explain: in WNaDC, Truth is training to become her Chief Advisor, and is only in his adolescence, a teenager (yes, I am using human lifespans to avoid confusion). WNaDC takes place only a few years after Nightmare Moon's return, but is left somewhat vague in order to allow it to take place at any point within the events of the show. This has the Mane 6 at their current ages in WNaDC (possibly 20s). That being said, since it is a decade later, that means Truth is now an adult (about how old the Mane 6 currently are), done with his training, and not restricted by the events of the show, but it still allows me to call on canon from the show for memories and such. The Mane 6 will be a part of this story, but obviously a little older (based on the earlier assumption, possibly 30s). The primary focus of this story will be 'Adventure' with a bit of 'Sad' and 'Dark'. There will be battles (as hinted above) and ponies will die, though the list of who dies is still uncertain, and will probably stay uncertain right until the very end. Writing on this should begin by summer at the latest.

-Brothers: Like Night and Day
A simple idea I had that may or may not happen. The story would be heavily based on the my brother's and my experiences. We are very close, but we weren't always that way. There would be a lesson in this story (the lesson we both had to learn), giving it somewhat of a purpose. As I said in WNaDC, a lot of my perspective from Celestia comes from being an older brother, and there's a reason for that. As I'm unsure if I want to try and 'ponify' this, there is no timeline.

Yes, I know I said I didn't like long posts, but this one was meant to be more informative and give an idea of what I have planned for the future.
