Meduim is the way to go.
So for me 1000 words is short and 6000 or more is long
long or medium
for me i like chapters that are 2k to 3k words. i think thats enough to make a chapter feel like there is alot without it being too long.
but it does not matter how long it is, it depends on the writing style and what the fic is about. New Beginnings, The Potion Shop have chapters that are around 900 words, but the way they are written they do not feel incomplete or rushed in any way. ive also managed to get through fanfics that have 20K - 35k word chapters.
