Yeah, in some regards. You get to go to your capitol and expect to be addressed in your native tongue. And when you go to buy comic books, you don't have to see just one part of a wall dedicated to your comics while entire aisles are dedicated to... I guess the American equivalent would be Spanish-speakers. And when you get a DVD or even a Blu-Ray of a foreign show, at least you can count on there being subtitles in your native tongue. As opposed to here, where one half of the country gets to expect the other half to speak their language (despite what the law says, btw) while accusing said other half of being unreasonable and privileged, and having no trouble at all just locking that half out.
