IMPORTANT: what's a contest you've always wanted to see on the site? · 6:41pm Jun 30th, 2021
Contests are great. I love writing for them and reading them. Lately I've been wanting to host a contest for the people on the site. My only problem: which one? What would people like to write and read about? The over 80 entries in the Friendship is Optimal contest showed me that there are still people on this site wanting to read and write. The admittedly impressive prizes might have had something to do with that, but still. There was a lot of creation. I want to help add to that. If there's something you've always wanted to see, comment. Send this post to anyone who might be interested. I really want to do this, but I'm not sure what.

So it is. And naturally I accidentally deleted the one with the responses.

if it makes you feel better, today I poured my coffee into my cereal, instead of my mug.
it actually made the Cinnamon toast crunch taste kind of nice
One I've always thought would be interesting would be a song-queue-based one. List a song or bunch of songs and people write a story based on/inspired by the song.
The one where I actually fully participate...
I've always had two that I wanted to run, but never had the wherewithal (nor the money to offer prizes, which seem to be necessary anymore).
I can't remember what the second one was, but the first is Badasslestia, just stories of Celestia getting fed up and wrecking shit, whether with friendship lasers, the power of the sun, her ability to maneuver through politics or pure, motherly kindness. :) All of these things can be badass if written right!

I'm going to guess that this registered about 5 seconds after you started pouring, and your mind was just "yeah, alright, fuck it, might as well finish the pour and then deal with it."
Ponies Invade Videogames.
The framing plot device is that Twilight (perhaps via Luna) discovers a vast concentration of dream-like worlds, most (but not all) of which are entirely separated from each other. She can't see clearly through whatever bubble or membrane that contains these worlds, but she learn that piercing the shell just enough to allow a few ponies entry is possible. But that method of entry will also require (for some reason, maybe the stability of the world) an equal number of local inhabitants be drawn out for as long as the entry is in progress. And interestingly/worryingly, some of the attributes of the replaced beings are manifested in whatever ponies are entering.
Basically, replace the cast of a major game (Borderlands, Saints Row, Tomb Raider, etc.) with one or more ponies, in sort of reverse Displacement. The replacements are still themselves in mind and body, have whatever pony skills/abilities that the show and comics have indicated them to possess. But they also gain whatever skills/knowledge that the character they're replacing has. If the game in question is part of a franchise, then the world entered should be as early as possible in the franchise (leaving room for potential sequels featuring the subsequent games).
