GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker and Occasional Singer keeping you up to date with the latest news for the Generation 5 movie and beyond! You know I was just trying to get through what I'm hoping to be a bigger work day, when I stumbled upon this one article that really drew my interest. And no, it wasn't so much because it confirms that Pipp Petals is a 'Princess' of the Pegasi nation Sunny and her friends are going to (It's vital to note Zipp Storm is 'also' a Princess). But instead, this rather interesting piece of information was recently announced just today and thereby leads me to start this new blog (Seeing as how yesterday was more of a merchandise discussion).
To kick things off, we have this interesting tidbit that adds some additional promotion to the upcoming movie:
First Gen 1 and Gen 4 comes together, now this.
As we are well aware, the MLP comic line (Specifically towards Generation 4) will be coming to an end by it's 102nd issue which therefore marks an end to Season 10 (Which to my disappoint lasted about as short as Season 3 and most of my friends know how I felt about that season). But as listed for Amazon's UK Branch, the 'My Little Pony Annual' title release for 2022 will be on its way with preview pages including 'actual' images from the upcoming movie which they still firmly stand is coming by September. Now I know you all want me to do a blog about the trailer, even a teaser would make for a decent blog. But it's really hard for me to do when it seems like they're not in a hurry to have something released (Unless they actually want to prepare a trailer that 'tries' not to give too much away).
With that being said, one of the biggest reveals of what this movie has to offer stems from these three pictures which you can find on Page 36 of the article in question:

This article pretty much supports this brief little animatic that came out in light of word of a Gen 5 movie. Of a little filly, whom we now know to be Sunny, along with some other pony we've been trying to figure out for quite some time. As the article suggests, this 'new' pony the Daily is talking about happens to be Sunny Starscout's father, who has been telling her stories of a time in Equestria's history when the 'Guardians of Harmony' (That being Twilight Sparkle and her friends) inspired Earth, Unicorn, and Pegasus ponies to come together through the magic of friendship. A time when all three tribes lived in peace, thus filling Sunny's head with dreams of befriending a pony who can fly or a pony who can make objects float with the magic radiating from their horns. Which also goes back to this 'one' quote of dialogue that kicks off this blog in general:
Someday, the both of us will meet Unicorns or a Pegasus. And we'll be best friends forever.
While it's too early to suggest what's likely going to happen, years of watching movies and reading stories similar to this suggest one thing: Sunny Starscout is willing to hold onto her promise about making friends with these ponies... except her father won't be around to see it happen. To clear the air, I'm not having too high hopes in something that dark to happen (Least nothing as dark as we used to get back in the 80s), yet this does play a bit of foreshadow that at some point during Sunny's growth that her father eventually passes away and she is left on her own for most of her life. It doesn't 'sound' like it might be the case, for all we know her father might be too old and retired to carry his duties so his kid could just as easily pick up the slack. But this wouldn't be the first time dealing with a pony who's lost a family in the MLP universe...

Anyways, the rest of the articles pretty much already tells us what we already know in terms of the plot of the upcoming movie and how the Mane Six will play a part in the 2022 edition of the Annual. But as a quick reminder as to what we can expect surrounding our 'Mane' cast of the upcoming movie, we have:
Sunny Starscout: An Earth pony who believes all ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns should get along. She has big dreams and always fights for what's right.
Izzy Moonbow: A Unicorn who loves to make new friends. She is very creative and has a big heart.
Hitch Trailblazer: An Earth pony who is the sheriff of Maretime Bay. He is always at hand ('Hoof') for any pony who needs help.
Princess Pip Petals: A Pegasus pony who is a royal popstar and twin sister to Zipp (See below). Confident and glamorous, the world is her stage.
Princess Zipp Storm: A Pegasus pony who is a super-cool royal rebel with plenty of attitude.
As short and sweet as these descriptions are, at the very least we are going in with 'some' ideas as to what we can expect from the cast and what we have to offer. And believe it or not, they really push the label on the 'creative' side on Izzy's part as it's made clear she loves arts and crafts.
It's... not... creepy...
Overall, with increasing news about the upcoming movie whether it be merchandising or about the film itself, we know with absolute certainty that Gen 5 is committed to making it's upcoming arrival. But until we do receive at least a teaser trailer to get us excited for what's still to come, everything that we are coming to expect from this movie is still high in the air. But the biggest question still remains:

Well if it were a bigger reaction, there'd be a crying video of one of the Mane Six included. Least if there's going to be a few last things related to Gen 4 (Aside from that crossover with the team of ponies Faust was inspired by), least this 2022 Annual deal means there's still some love for Gen 4 till Gen 5 completely takes over.
I cannot wait for the movie now, I need to know more

I guess that pretty much confirms this as a follow up to Gen 4. Hearing the Mane 6 be referred to as Ancient Equestria feels so surreal. Really hammers it home that their time is done...
Also surprised me that season 10 ended so quickly... oh well. Is what it is.

Makes sense given it's pretty much a subtle way of saying that Gen 4 'did' happen but now it's pretty much the olden days (We don't get 'that' many nods with G1 except for a few appearances). As for the Season 10 comics, like I said I'd hoped they'd go on just a little longer. But it's like instead as soon as the remainder of their friends discover the other 'Trees of Harmony', only to realize there's a conspiracy involving a group trying to rid Equestria of its magic, that's pretty much it. I mean there are so many stories I feel the comics are not giving the fans a chance to see as part of Season 10.
I mean 'sure' they covered more than enough as a regular comic series run (Regardless if fans think they are canon or not). I don't know it just feels like 'What's the point of having a Season 10 at all?'.
Anyways, most of the information I got came straight from Equestria Daily. I didn't think links were necessary if folks already know where to go. This is pretty much just my own personal taste on the matter at hand.

Yes that is true. I like to think it's pretty much a more fancier term to call the group than just simply the 'Elements of Harmony'. Who knows? Sunny and her friends might end up being the new 'Guardians' even though they are a member short.

hmm with 2022 annual I'm wondering if there is gonna be a g5 comic. as for the g4 comics ending the ponies find out about the group that wants to get rid of all magic and it ends just right then ending on a cliffhanger? i hope not. since g5 Equestria has no magic could be said the group is responsible? that would mean that the final problem was not canon. but i don't think the m6 would discover it and only in years after the final problem that the m6 are defeated in some way.....i REALLY hope that's not the case

Since we don't know all the details as to why the ponies split up prior to the start of Gen 5, 'something' definitely happened while Twilight and her friends were still around. And if the comics themselves were to end on that cliffhanger, it's possible we've uncovered a connection as to how this 'group' is deemed responsible for all the paranoia and such. But that's just a theory.

well i just saw a toy pic of petals sister and she has a snowboard. since there both pegasi maybe we will get to see her pull a kit cloudkicker style cloudsurfing at somepoint

I did hear something about a 'singing' Princess Pipp Petals. But since we all know that the voices from the toys don't really match who they want for the cast, difficult to say if we're actually going to hear the princess's voice for the first time.
