It's Been a While · 7:14pm Jun 21st, 2021
I don't think I have really touched this site in a while. I keep getting notifications for replies to my comments on mainly the Austraeoh series, but I . . . well, I still wonder about this place, about everyone still here and how everyone is doing, in their literary pursuits and their personal lives, assuming we got to know each other well enough.
And even if we haven't, I still would be interested. I used to love this site and coming here. I used to love doing what I did for editing and interacting with authors, and I used to absolutely love this show. Times have changed, and I do believe I have moved on from this phase in my life, but still, I linger.
Some aspect of me still has a fondness for returning here, and so while I am, I'd like to know:
How have all you fine people on FiMFic been holding out?
I'm not really active anymore, I just kinda.... lurk from time to time.
I joined here when I was in middle school. 12-13 years old. I'm 20 now working full time. Time flies by.
Well hello there, old friend! I hope life is treating you well.
I'm still here, still writing. Much slower than I used to. But, still parading Sunset as best pony.

This is pretty much me. Everyone ends up looking at how age pulls you away from these things as a bad thing, but I had a great time here, and I have since moved on. I get nostalgic from time to time, but I think that's a part of being human and having great experiences. If you don't occasionally look back at certain times wishing you could relive them, then I imagine life wouldn't be that entertaining.
Happy to hear you have a job and are holding it down. I'm 24, so I know how it is to be working full time. Been doing it for a while now.

Ahh, one of my favorite people! I haven't ran into you on FiMFic in quite a while. I still see you post on the Facebooks from time to time, though I keep getting banned on there, so now I'm taking a month off. Haha. But man, I have been considering touching some of my old fics because I lost my phone again. It would be a great way to pass the time on my long travel days I often end up on.
EDIT: Totally wasn't you on my Facebook. Haha. I can't remember who I have added from FiMFic nowadays.
Appreciate that you’re still checking in on us, even if you’ve moved on.
I’ve been busy at work, printed some actual books to sell at the last Bronycon, and started to shift away from publishing stuff exclusively here although it turns out after all these years it’s hard to write stories that don’t have magical pastel ponies in ‘em.
I think that people always maintain at least an interest in things that took up their time for a while. During the pandemic, I got out some of my old trains and bought some new track and made a new layout which honestly isn’t great, but it’s still fun to watch trains run around, just as much fun as it was two decades ago.

I’m still here, pretty much every day now that I think about it.
I need help.

That's great to hear! I'm glad you've found continued interest in literature, but I know that it can be pretty hard to make the switch once you have put so much time into ponies. You are not the first person to say that, and I feel like that will be the case for many people who find further love in literature from fan fiction. just make sure you try and find help for regular stories, as in maybe read into some self-help stuff involving regular fiction more so for the head space of being within a human fiction versus a pony fiction. The advice given here is honestly pretty great, but it only goes so far, and overall, there aren't many (if any) successful real-life authors on this site, so when it comes to taking your writing and sharing it with the world, not just here, I am not sure many things here are helpful enough for that.
I had a great friend on here that learned that the hard way in the process of striving to be an author, and it was a constant struggle for a while until she got used to the differences between regular fiction and fan fiction.

Soon, it will be a decade for me, and I am not sure what to think. I definitely consider my time to be over with, but it's hard for me to stop coming back to this site about once or twice a week, so I will still find it to be impressive regardless once I reach that point.
It's hard to believe I joined the site in 2012, and now it's 2021. I work full time, so writing fanfiction has definitely taken a back burner to life. I got engaged last year and am in the process of planning a wedding for next year. I'm actually working on a wedding guide on having accessible weddings by being more inclusive to those with disabilities during the planning process. I got the idea from my own experience planning my wedding with two physically disabled parents in attendance and many other family members and friends on both sides who have physical or mental disabilities. So I haven't completely given up writing! Still in school and working full-time, so that takes up most of my time. I hope you are doing well and staying safe during these unprecedented times.
