Hey Fimfiction! Been a while. I did manage to spit out a little something before the end of last year, and then... not do anything else, haha. Even though I’ve had a lot of free time in part due to the pandemic, I’ve still been distracted by other interests and not really creating so much these days, stories or music or really much of anything. Yet I do think over my unfinished fic ideas every now and then, and I think it’s certainly possible I still have more to give—I just don’t really know when that’ll be.
But that's not why I'm finally getting around to writing another blog post. Really I just wanted to say that I've been doing a lot of thinking, soul-searching, and assessing my values over the last few months, and I've come to the conclusion that I personally cannot morally justify continuing to use a website that openly hosts child pornography. I've decided to remove my writing from this page because I don't want to be a part of the platform, with my own authorised uploads used to raise ad revenue for the site so it can continue to operate. I'm genuinely ashamed of how fucking lame it is that I've waited so long to do this, and especially that I've waited until the stakes are fairly low since I'm not really active anymore anyway, but... I feel the need to do something, and to make sure people know why. You can find a link to download my small library of works (including a few odd drafts and unfinished, unpublished pieces) on my userpage; you are free to do with them whatever you would like, with no restrictions.
The only other thing I really have to add is... I completely understand continuing to use the site considering how long I was able to justify it to myself, but if you directly monetarily support the site in any way I would urge you to rethink that. I don’t know knighty and can’t speak to his motivations when it comes to how he chooses to run Fimfiction, but I believe it is not moral to support the operations of a website that promotes child pornography, where it’s been normalised to the degree that it has on this site.
I will still be around, just not here. And if you’re thinking about being asinine in the comments, don’t bother; please just unfollow or block me and go on with your life. This isn’t for you.
