What I learned through playing Celeste

Something weird that's happened in the pandemic is that I started playing videogames. People who know me know I'm already an eternal TF2 player, a MK fan and I really liked Undertale, but that's about it. Yet, since last year I've been playing the Portal series, Hal-Life 1 (stuck in a level, don't ask), and this year in particular PokéMMO (my very first Pokémon experience outside the anime) and, last week, Celeste.

I'm honestly impressed. A friend pointed out to me, and I confirmed first hand, that the game devotes in its entirety to deliver its message. From being filled with anti-frustration mechanics, to having a story around depression and anxiety, it's pretty good at talking about such complex issues.

And, in my case in particular, it led me to a surprisingly simple yet complex epiphany: it takes more than one thing.

"It" can be anything. Self-care, development, achievement. But the thing is that, more often than not, it is the small steps. Those 400 and some times you died in a game are as meaningful as that one you got though. The important part is to know one's own limitation. Take pauses, take care of oneself. Is not gonna happen in that one eureka moment.

Let's check my last year's worth of attempts at writing again; false-starting whole projects, setting deadlines, scheduling regular content. Of course none of that worked, because, obviously, I wanted the accomplishment in a single leap rather than making the walk.

So, where does that leaves us? I honestly don't know. I will try to not leave a month-long gap of content, but I won't push myself for another sprint of weekly releases that will only leave me burned out in a couple of months like last time, or false start a project that will most probably just cause me more anxiety for not finishing it already.

I will make an attempt to be more present, but that's about it. I only promise to try.

It may sound little, but it's something.

esta en mi larga lista de juegos por jugar y si quieres una sugerencia echale un ojo a subnautica nunca pense que disfrutaria un juego en el que le disparo a nada

y me alegro que estés mas animado ,si realmente te gusta escribir no deberias parar pero como dijiste tampoco forzarte a seguir un horario

Es un muy buen juego. No sé si tanto en el aspecto técnico, pero sí en cómo presenta su historia.
