On 4/18/2011 the Boise family were reported missing. They have never been found…
On a hunch I searched online, typing in ‘Missing persons reports’ and was almost shocked by what filled my screen. It didn’t take long to weed out those unrelated to what I was looking for but I found hundreds of missing families in America all resembling the Boise case. I'm sure if I expanded my search to other countries it would have been much bigger.
I scroll downwards past countless smiling faces all of them becoming a blur. Why isn’t anyone noticing this? Why isn’t anyone concerned?
I don’t know what it was that caught my attention, making me stop my scrolling. But I stared at the random little girl in the picture with her short brown hair tied with ribbons. The little girl, probably around nine or ten, posing for the shot while holding some green colored horse doll with a green and white mane and what looked like a harp or lyre on the side of its rear leg. The doll looked filthy and her eyes were blacked out. The thing looked brand new but the stains and its eyes looked like she grabbed it out of a garbage can. Looking so filthy I could almost smell the nasty thing from my screen. Strange that a child would be holding something so dirty so close to her.
I stare at the little girl with the short brown hair smiling the way all kids do at that age and for a moment I am overcome with this sudden urge to rip that doll out of her hands and burn the damn thing. From the pit of my soul I know nothing good can come from a thing like that.
