Request for more options

I’m finishing up Chapter 9 of Prince of Dreams when a few issues arose.

It has to do with Nightmare Moon involvement with David/Morpheus. I like some minds to bounce ideas around with.

Well, Nightmare Moon in my story still has access to the Dream Realm. She can dream walk even if she's bound to the moon. This is my Head Canon of why NMM talked modern Ponish and Luna spoke with thee and Thou of old Ponish.

It also a reason for Nightmare Night. With Nightmare Moon haunting nightmares of the weak-minded (like foals), a holiday was made to teach foals how to face their fears. When they face their fears they get a treat, to keep them from getting greedy they share some of the treats as tribute.

So that means Nightmare Moon can interact with David/Morpheus in the dream realm. I had the idea NMM devises that if she could claim Morpheus as her son, she could remove Celestia from power.

The problem is the political and government situation has nothing to do with my story! So the whole idea is useless and just clutters the overall plot.

If Morpheus can't be used to bring harm to Celestia and remove her from power, then why would Nightmare Moon bother keeping Morpheus alive, or even teach him how to use the Alicorn magic. I don't have a motivation for why Nightmare Moon taking Morpheus under her wing or not tormenting him with nightmares.

Thought I am developing the idea she's curious about him. Similar to how she didn't blast Alicorn Twilight Sparkle in the Nightmare Timeline.

Curiosity, and "might be useful in the future" as a chess piece to be moved around, or as a distraction. I think you could keep it somewhat vague without hurting the story.

I’m going to go with that. I talked it over with a few people.

There even canon validation with the Nightmare Moon timeline, her curiosity about Alicorn Twilight Sparkle. She talked with Twilight and tried to get access to the time travel spell.

So with Morpheus having knowledge of another world and perhaps knowledge of the future of her world. I can very easily see her attempt to get Morpheus under control.
