“Is that acrylic paint you’re using right now?”
“I was gonna use watercolor, but yeah, this is what I went with.”
“I’m honestly glad you didn’t choose watercolor. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it looks nice, but it can be harder to get a professional grasp on, especially when it comes to controlling the water itself, since it is incredibly runny and—”
“Right, right. Look, I have this blue color called ‘Ultramarine’. Which red should I mix it with?”
“Oh! I remember using that type of blue before. I think it was at this art school. I tried mixing it with a shade of red simply known as ‘fire red’ but I think I ended up getting this weird brown color. Such a shame, really, since I was expecting a really bright and appetizing purple. Not to mention the Ultramarine itself smelled like old pee.”
Do I really need to be hearing this?
“But yeah. Never mix ‘fire red’ with ‘ultramarine’. Honestly, I never really tried mixing that red with other colors, but maybe I used it for an orange. I think it was—”
“Can this NOT be an art lesson?!”
“Uh... oops.”
“Now, which red?”
“I say go for the magenta pint.”
“Okay.”
“Funny thing is, I spent all my life thinking magenta was a pink and not a red. I mean, it kinda is red, since red is used to make shades of pink, but I never thought it would explicitly be seen as red. The bottle I used was extremely red, and so was the paint itself, but at the same time, it did have this slightly pink shade to it...”
