In the first entry of this blog, I briefly described the creation of the OCs Quicksilver and Misty. I developed information about them growing up, including how they met, how they got their cutie marks, etc. The problem was that most of that content just didn't fit into your normal adventure story. So fairly early in the process of writing the other stories in the series, I attempted to do one specifically about these early years. It was a complete disaster. There was nothing to tie it together, that is, no story. It was just a collection of independent events or scenes. So the project went on hold.
It sat idle while I wrote three other complete stories before anything changed. I got the idea to introduce another character creating a dramatic framework that all the other events could be connected to. While some topics like cutie marks and education background were still there, the main focus was now on the relationship between the three characters, especially the developing one between Quicksilver and Misty.
Of course The First Adventure is not an adventure story like so many of the others. This one falls into the category of drama/romance (although there is one short but intense action scene). So if one is curious about how they became the ponies seen in the other stories, this origin story will provide the answer. And if you just like the occasional feel-good story, it works for that also.
