Interview with Short-Tale! · 3:18pm Apr 17th, 2021

Hello everyone, been awhile since I have done one of these. Lots of ponies ask me "Nailah, why do you do interviews, what do you expect to get out of them?"
So I thought just for fun, I'd answer that question here, since it keeps coming up in my interviews.
I started doing these interviews because I wanted to give back to the community in some way. I admit, my writing isn't the best, far from it. I try, but I struggle with grammar, and pacing. I keep writing though because it's my passion. However, the reason I started these interviews was to HELP other author's.

Originally, I wanted to highlight author's I felt needed more exposure, that weren't getting the attention they deserved. But then some more well known ponies like FamousLastWords, RobCakeran, and even HapHazared wanted me to interview them, and for me, that was a big deal. I'm no pony special, why would they want to be featured on my blog? Oh well, that's why. To give back to a community that gave me a home when I had nothing.

Facts, I was homeless when I first joined this site. My ex-husband and I had just lost our trailer that we owned, having no other options I had to move back in with my father. I HATED this, because I knew he was a drunk, and verbally abusive but with no other options it was that or a cardboard box (sometimes the cardboard box would've been better) But I disgress. These interviews were never meant to make me "famous" or "well-known" I just wanted to do something to give back, and if interviews was how I could then I would. I also really enjoy it.

WIthout further ado, enough about me. Please welcome Short-Tale! He's an up and coming author (far more talented then me.) so I'll let him take the stage now.

Snow Heart

Snow Heart didn't remember anything. She stirred awake, to find she was covered by pure white sheets, and a pure white blanket. Everything smelt like bleach, or some kind of cleaner. Her purple hues looked around, observing the room. It was clear to her, she was in a hospital, but she had no idea why, and more importantly... who was she?

Nurse Red Heart

Nurse Redheart finished most of her rounds of her preliminary check ups. Her shift just started. She looks at the name on the clipboard for the next patient. Jane Doe. She sighs. There is normally is many of those that make it. She opens the door and finds the bat pony sitting up. She is startled slight and rechecks the chart.
“Not a doe at all,” ^she mutters. Then she places her patient friendly smile on* “Good evening, miss, how are you feeling?”

Snow Heart

"Ugh. What happened? Why am I in a hospital? Who are you?" she asked all at once, a bit dazed. She let out an EEEEEEE as she stretched out her bat wings. It would be clear to her of one thing, this pony had bat wings and a horn. Not something you saw everyday, that's for sure*

Nurse Red Heart

Nurse Redheart tries to maintain her professionalism despite her curiosity.
“Now, now settle down. The emergency wagon brought you in sometime during the day. It says...”She glances at the chart “the paramedic brought you here and that they found you unconscious in an alley way. I’m Nurse Redheart and this is Ponyville Regional Network Hospital. Now what is the last thing you remember?”

Snow Heart

*She took a deep breath, folding her wings behind her back, trying to remember. But... nothing. It was like a black hole. She just remembered fading to unconscious but not what happened before that. "I don't know..."

Nurse Red Heart

“It’s ok. That happens sometimes. We think you had a major concussion. When that happens the brain can swell and cause temporary amnesia.”
Redheart places a reassuring hoof on Snow Hearts

Snow Heart

Snow Heart processed her words. Amesia? Is that why she didn't know who she was, or why she was here. Well, besides the obvious reason "But...Nurse Red Heart how can I remember? How long must I wait? What does this mean?" Snow heart felt her head pounding. something had to bring her memories back, but what?

Nurse Red Heart

“Well normally something like this goes away when the swelling decreases. But in more severe cases it might not. The first thing to do is calm down. Stress makes everything worse. I’m going to start by taking your vitals. Hold you forehoof out for a blood pressure please.”

Snow Heart

Snow Heart did as asked, and held out her forehoof, while taking deep breaths in and out. Remember, putting her other hoof near her heart, she was just able to feel her pink collar on her neck. Suddenly, the memory of something rushed through her. "Snow Heart...my name is Snow Heart and I'm a Princess." she managed to say while feeling a flustering in her heart*

Nurse Red Heart

Redheart wraps the blood pressure cuff around the out stretched forehoof. “Snow Heart that’s very pretty name. We have a nurse that has the same name. So Princess Snow Heart what brings you to Ponyville? 142/86 if you want to know.” She removes the air from the cuff with small hiss of air.

Snow Heart

"I don't remember. What brings you to Ponyville?" asked Snow Heart in return. Why was she asking the nurse questions? How would that help her. Suddenly she blinked. Something was nagging at the back of her brain. A reason for her ending up here. What had happened? Did she ask too many questions?*

Nurse Red Heart

“I was born in this town. It’s my home. There was a time I left to study medicine but as soon as I could I got back here. There is just something...magical here. Especially know with the giant magical castle of friendship. Pulse is 82.” Redheart has been taking Snow Heart’s pulse as she spoke. She pulled out her stethoscope and motioned Snow Heart to sit forward “I just need you to sit forward.”

Snow Heart

Snow Heart moved herself to lean forward, knowing she wanted to test her breathing with the stethoscope. Wait, how...did she know that? She blinked, as memories were starting to come back. "I remember...asking questions. To a pony similar to you, another nurse."

Nurse Red Heart

places stethoscope on various parts of her back to listen “Another nurse? Do you remember who?”

Snow Heart

"Um...No." *Snow Heart replied. "Maybe if you tell me more about you, I might remember. You said who you are, but how did you get into mlp?" Snow Heart inquired curiously.

Nurse Red Heart

“Well it was..a process. Look at this light please.” *shines light in Snow Heart’s eyes. “I first came across Applejack as I was looking for pictures of the hard liquor for an avatar by the same name. I was intrigued but not ready yet.” turns off light “Then I came across a poster of Deadpool riding various ponies. I bought the one with AJ. I tried to watch a few times but my foals weren’t ready. Then a coworker told me about the Cheese Sandwich and Derpy episodes. Open your mouth please. I was hooked after those.”

Snow Heart

Snow Heart was blinded by the light, as she listened to her talk about how she got into ponies. It was interesting to hear, since well she was a pony. She blinked and tried to recover her vision after such a flashing bright orb in her pupils, dilating them. She nodded and mmphmed in response. She considered something as she opened up her mouth

"Aaaaaa"

Nurse Red Heart

“Looks good. No loose teeth. Where do you come from?”

Snow Heart

"I don't remember. What inspires you to write?" *she asked, clearly on a ramble, trying to put the pieces together. There was a mare, like her, she was a nurse. What happened? It was all foggy, but she remembered asking them questions. "I was interviewing her! the nurse. I remember."

Nurse Red Heart

“Oh are you a reporter? Maybe you had a tip or lead you were following when you got hurt. Redheart is clearing excited about this fantasy. “I love to create and see where characters go and do in different situations. It’s like finding parts of your self and giving them a voice of their own. You learn a lot about yourself and and can enjoy the creation process.” Nurse Redheart jots down her findings on the clipboard. “Do you remember why you had to interview the nurse?”

Snow Heart

"No, I don't. I just remember..." Snow Heart began. "She was a nurse working in the field, she stopped me on my way to somewhere, I don't remember where. But...that's besides the point. I need to ask you more questions. I'm sure I'll remember with time. What advice might you give a beginning author?"

Nurse Red Heart

“Well writing from what I heard from a famous writer is the process about being honest. Allow the words to flow unbidden. The story will tell itself eventually. Then fix it after it all comes out. Nothing will be perfect right away. Just remember to put out the best you can at that moment.” Redheart begins to palpate Snow Hearts rear legs. “Can you feel me touching your hooves?”

Snow Heart

Snow Heart listened, while still trying to remember. She felt like she was getting a headache, but at the same time, felt she was getting somewhere. She nodded "Yes, I can" She said wiggling out her forelegs, and her hindlegs showing she was quite mobile despite having come in unconscious. Quick recovery, maybe it was the alicorn blood. Who knew?

"Um, so um Nurse Red Heart what do you do when you're not a nurse? Do you have any hobbies?"

Nurse Red Heart

“I try and do a lot of things. Patients can drain you could considerably so you need something else to help unwind. I like hiking, art and role playing games. And umm Kirin animation.”

“How about you? Do you remember any hobbies you like to do?” writes down some notes.

Snow Heart

Snow Heart listened, and tried to process the thoughts in her head. But it was like cloudy. She could start seeing bits and pieces, but she hadn't connected the puzzle yet. "Me? I like to help others. Ponies always say I have a strong heart. I don't know exactly what that means, but I like to write, draw, and I even enjoy singing." Snow blushed a bit at the last one. She remembered things. She was starting to remember.

"So um...what about you? Anything about the writer behind the pony, you'd like to say?"

Nurse Red Heart

“Well my inner writer always says to just trust yourself. Hold the character in your head and just let them speak through your hooves. All the words are there. Also remember about the honesty. Allow all the ideas you have encountered through your life to fill the character and let them experience that. We don’t know how you perceive the world until you tell us. And there is only one you. Try just letting your voice out. You can’t not find it.” Nurse Redheart shakes her head. She’s getting distracted by the interesting conversation. She still has her own questions she must ask.*”Any blurred vision, double vision, dizziness or nausea?”

Snow Heart

"No, I don't thing so. I have a headache though." She admitted, rubbing at the back of her head, but considering where she had started, a headache seemed like a small price to pay. She remembered it now. She was interviewing a nurse, when suddenly there was an accident and she had stepped in the way to save the nurse*

"The nurse was in trouble, and I jumped in the way. I remember."

Nurse Red Heart

“You saved a nurse? Where? Do you know what she looked like?”

Snow Heart

"She was in Ponyville actually. I was going to visit my parents, they live here in town." began Snow, even though it was all coming back to her, she was still curious about the nurse who was treating her.*

"Is there anything you want to ask me?"

Nurse Red Heart

“Well how did you get into this fandom?”

Snow Heart

"Rainbow Dash. I got into the fandom because of her. I admittedly thought ponies were lame for a long time, but Rainbow Dash had a cool design, and color palette. I'd see her paired with Sonic, and I got curious. Sat down, watched an episode been hooked ever since."

Nurse Red Heart

“Oh we see Rainbow here a fair amount of time. Those tricks she does are quite dangerous. How long did it take you before you actually watched her work.” Redheart has placed the chart on the foot of the bed and sitting on it.

Snow Heart
"You do? Woah that's so cool. I have never interacted with her personally. But I'm such a big fan.' Snow Heart admitted blushing, before she looked at Red Heart.* "I only have one more question for you...is there anything you'd like to say to my stalkers?" She points to her own fans.

Nurse Red Heart

“Well considering I just met you it’s an odd question. But you seem like the type that enjoys hugs and boops. I prescribe that you get multiple from them everyday to aid in your recovery and over all mental health. I shall demonstrate.” Redheart tenderly hugs her patient and then boops her on the snout. “Well I hope I am not being too forward, but tests have shown that it does help patient recovery. I hope to see you around just not in this capacity.”
