Season 1 Episode 2 Up! (April 12th) · 9:40pm Apr 12th, 2021
Hello, my lovely readers! It’s that time again, for another story update. Episode 2 of Season 1 of Star Trek: Phoenix has now been published.
First off, allow me to welcome and thank all new followers, favoriters, bookshelf adders, and so on. There’s been an incredible outpouring of support and interest in this story, far beyond my wildest expectations for having only one--now two--chapters up, and so I cannot say enough how much I appreciate you.
For those of you who are new: I like to post a blog entry with a few notes regarding the chapter every time I update a longform story. For instance, let’s go into a bit of detail as to what I was thinking when it came to Twilight. Spoilers to follow, but don’t worry--it’s just for the chapter you just read.
So, there is a very good reason I wanted to choose this exact moment to have Twilight be taken from Equestria, and not some later date, like versus Nightmare Moon, or when the Elements blast her, or anything like that. I also didn’t want her to stumble across the mirror like Sunset did. I can’t go into all the details right now as they would be serious spoilers, but there is a very good reason the Rainboom went off and Spike was hatched before Twilight was taken. Equestria will be fine without her.
You’ll also notice we get to see a few things from Twilight we didn’t for Sunset, when it comes to adaptation to Earth. That’s intentional. There will be a few times where Twilight gets to go into a bit more detail on things Sunset skips over, just so we don’t have repetition.
When it comes to the scene regarding the time difference: yes, there will be an explanation for why this has occurred in the story. Out of story, this is me invoking some reason into the whole mess of when Sunset was Celestia’s student, how old she is next to Twilight, etc. They’re about roughly four years apart in age, as Sunset was about eleven and a half when she came to Earth, whereas Twilight just turned eight.
Writing progress for Phoenix is surging fairly well ahead. Trying to build an extra large buffer both for the sake of my prereaders and myself having some busy things going on at end of April/early May. Currently the buffer sits at four, but I’m hoping to boost that up to seven.
In other news, Firefoxino wrote a review for Danganronpa: In Harmony’s Wake! I want to thank them for going to the effort, since it was such a long story, and the review score is quite fair and makes me happy. Please thank them if you have read the story, and if you haven’t, perhaps this review will encourage you to take a look?
Feel free to ask questions in the comments, and I’ll see you all next week for the next post of Star Trek: Phoenix! Have a good day now.
Spike's going to take her place, isn't he? Hope she doesn't feel bad her "destiny" was taken from her when they do come back.
Then again she'll be flying around the galaxy exploring new worlds and meeting new peoples, I don't think an old dusty crown compares too that

Well, I'll say this: Equestria will be fine without Twilight Sparkle when it comes to canon MLP threats.
As for Spike: He'll get to play a part. Eventually.
So...I'm putting my money on either The Great and Powerful Trixie or Starlight to step up in Twilights place.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
Will hopping between character points of view each episode be a set thing, or just as needed? I was actually pleasantly surprized when the whole thing ran as Twilight this time. Alternating episode PoV, it would allow for some neat parallels and choices on what the reader sees directly and what details are left to our imagination. I don't know if that was the goal long term but I thoroughly enjoyed both chapters so far. Thanks for writing and sharing.

Yes, there will be regular perspective changes. Sometimes it will be in one or the other for the whole chapter, other times--particularly during the Academy days--it will bounce back and forth several times a chapter. This will always be indicated by a cutie mark symbol.
