Chapter 5 has been renamed 'The Shepard' and the update is posted. Overall the chapter became shorter by about 1.1K words. I had to trim a lot of the fat off of it and rewrite quite a bit to make it more consistent both in tone and flow (I.e. less needless exposition).

Thanks for sticking around
How long did it take for you to do all of these rewrites? Also, thank you for sticking with this!

I started doing the updates at the end of March and with this latest posting I think it's taken me around 12-13 days. I'm over half way finished in terms of word count. So hopefully it won't take another 12 to finish up and begin work on a new chapter.

Thank you for the response! One last question, how many words do you write on average in a session? I'm trying to push past 500 an hour myself but I'm wondering if there's a method to improve this.

To answer your question, it typically varies. One small tip: don't worry about word counts. This isn't a school assignment were your paper has to be X number of words long. It took me a long time to get over that mentality. Thus why a lot of my current editing has my overall word count dropping since I'm eliminating so much junk from the chapters.
My method to writing is to have a side document where I outline and summarize all the important points of a chapter first. That way important information from previous chapters is on record to avoid contradictions, plot holes, etc. For new chapters it reminds me of where I'm going. By the same logic it also helps to have a story ending in mind. This spare document also doubles as a notepad where I record new idea and sparks of inspiration.
When it comes to writing I start by summarizing the events to take place; lay the foundation so to speak. Its like a bare bones approach, keep sentences short and sweet and plan out the dialogue between characters. I don't worry too much about spelling and grammar at this stage. On the second pass that's when I put the majority of the meat into the chapter as well as focus on fixing the spelling and grammar. Once that is done I can repeat the two steps as needed if the chapter is too short.
I hope this helps, and thanks for sticking with my story.

The phrase "stick around" with Rainbow's pucker face makes me think of one of the suction cup plushies you put on the inside of your car.

If I could buy a Rainbow Dash plushie for my car, I would in a heartbeat.
