The Voice in the Water

Listen to the crashing of the waves, the flow of a stream, the roar of a waterfall, or the patter of the rain.

Hazbin Hotel Episode 1 - I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching.

So, after however many years, we finally get Hazbin Hotel. I've been waiting for it to come out since I saw the pilot. When the first episode dropped, I watched it before checking out any reviews or commentary, because I wanted to go in without any preconceptions clouding my view of the series.

And honestly, I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching.

Working on the next chapter, and realizing something I wish I could do.

So, as I've written more of Rising, I've come to realize that there's something I wish I could do with the formatting. Namely, I wish I could have two columns of text, one that would represent the main narrative from Sunset's external perspective, and one that could be used for when Sunset and Philomena are sending, or when Philomena is sharing her perspective. I don't know how easy something

    Favorite Super Robot attacks

Because I'm going through anime withdrawal due to having my internet via wi-fi hotspot and therefore must ration my data usage, and don't have access to my disk collection, here's a bunch of my favorite attack names from Super Robot anime, and the series they come from. This is by no means a complete list of all the attack names I like, but they're some of my favorites.

    Nightcrawler

The current leader of the Cult of Endless Decay, Nightcrawler is an atrocity (the Chaos equivalent to an ascendant) created by D’compose in the waning days of the Skellweb Crisis. With his master's capture and Black Thorn’s death, Nightcrawler became the de facto leader of the cult. Even now, he works against Solaria in an effort to both free his master, and defeat the hated phoenix-born.

    New Phoenix-born chapter Tuesday

    Hello everyone,

It took longer than I had expected, but I've got the next chapter more or less ready. Barring some serious issues coming to light with it when I proof it again, it should be posted on Tuesday, Aug 22. As to why it took so long? Well, I was about 6K words in, and realized that what I had wasn't going to work. So, I had to scrap it and start over more or less from scratch.

Back from the field, have some nature · 2:23am Apr 5th, 2021

Hello everyone,

Just got back from 5 days of field work. I'm tired, covered in scratches and cuts, probably a little sunburnt, and have just stopped hurting when I walk. But, I also bring pictures of the outside world and the wondrous things in it. Enjoy some of the beauty of nature without having to lug around a bunch of research equipment.

Momma sea otter pulling her sleeping baby away from a large, dangerous predator (i.e. me)

Waterfall at the end of a 2.5 hr hike into the back country

Shorebird reflected on the water's surface

Water lilies on the surface of a lake

Looking upstream in a secluded riparian corridor

Sheer canyon wall covered in ferns

Niiice. And aloe is your friend for sunburns. Good for mosquito bites too. Have a great new start of the week.

Gorgeous pics. Thanks for enduring the outside for them.

It does help, doesn't it?

I will happily endure the outside to see things like this. Frankly, spending a week outside, getting pummeled by the elements, not showering, eating food that I can store for months in my backpack and sleeping in a tent is my idea of a great time.

It is.

I’m so jealous😭
What job do you have that lets you field research for a week?

As part of my PhD, I work as a field technician to pay for my tuition and cost of living.

Frustratingly, on the trip that I took those pictures (which took me from Los Angeles to the San Fransisco Bay Area along the California coast), I didn't actually find the species that I was sent out to find.
