Hello there! Welcome to my second review of the series of Toy Story. Tonight, I will be reviewing the 1999 sequel to the original film: Toy Story 2. Is this film better than the first one, or is it worse than the original? In my humble opinion, I would say that this is just as entertaining and mildly intriguing as the first movie was although not that great or rewatchable. However, I was still impressed with how they added new characters in this along with new concepts and a continuous journey for both Woody and the gang.

Once again, the voice actors have done quite a splendid job reprising their roles as their own characters. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were still wonderful in their own voice roles as always, and a new character named Jessie was really good due to her ecstatic personality. Plus, I was really touched by her sad backstory when she had a human kid with her at one time and the emotional pain she felt after being so callously abandoned like that. Joan Cusack did very well in conveying that happy and emotional personality in her voice work of the character.

As for the Prospector (Stinky Pete), he was an okay villain toward the end, and he had a logical reason why he would have such a resentment toward human children and their destructive way of handling toys. I felt almost bad for him, but the way he tried to force Woody to go with him to be a part of a Museum... away from children and threatened him solidified him as the type of guy who would go to any measure to get what he wants. That makes sense for me because he’s the same guy who partnered with Lockdown to hunt down Optimus Prime. Thanks, Kelsey Grammer. 😉

Oh, and it was nice seeing Emperor Zurg in this film although he was only in for a minor role. Honestly, it was hilarious how the writers casually wrote this popular Star Wars reference by having him and the other Buzz Lightyear have almost the same dialogue. A lot of movies and shows tend to do that, don’t they?

The story was alright and very simple to follow; the music and score were also good, and the character development was still enjoyable to watch. Woody facing his fears of being thrown away by Andy after having a piece of his plastic arm being ripped was both fascinating and scary at the same time. It’s always good to face your fears and your problems and learn how to cope with them without having any doubts.

Overall, this is just as entertaining as the first one except it has a slightly better antagonist and interesting new characters. I still will never forget Al who was voiced by the legendary Wayne Knight. That guy is still hilarious every time I hear his voice or his dialogue in the characters I’ve watched many times before. Knight is really amazing. This film gets a 7/10 as well.

Peace!

I thought Stinky Pete's reason was pathetic.

Speaking of Star Wars, there’s a parody movie of the original trilogy. It’s hilarious.

Every time I hear the song Jesse sings I've always found myself crying after remembering the loss of a family member.

Wait, are you serious? Prospector Pete is voiced by Kelsey Grammer?
