Chapter Notes: A Kirin Walks Into a Bar · 1:33am Mar 25th, 2021

A Kirin walks into a bar . . . the second one ducks. . . .

Seriously, though, there is an old joke where a grasshopper walks into a bar and exclaims that there’s a drink named after him

Source

but it turns out the grasshopper’s name is Johnny Walker or something like that.

Point is, why not a kirin named Ginger Mojito?

Incidentally, here’s a recipe for a ginger mojito:

Put 6 mint leaves, 3/4 oz. of ginger syrup, 3/4 oz. lime, 1 1/2 oz. rum in a shaker or glass and rum in a cocktail shaker or glass and muddle them to break up the leaves. Add ice and shake.

Strain into a tall glass filled with ice cubes, top with soda water. Garnish with mint, lime, and/or ginger.

Sounds like fun! And if any of y’all make this, let me know how it tastes!

Just don't introduce Soccer to Kirin.

The joke, as I've heard it, is:

A grasshopper walks into a bar.
The bartender says "You know, we have a drink named after you."
The grasshopper replies, "You have a drink named Steve?"

And forget the ginger mojito. Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur and bourbon is where it's at!

You mean Fußball?

Kirin Hooligans.

Dan

Mint is icky. Give the kirin a Moscow Mule or glass of absinthe.

It sucks that Buffalo Sweat Stout was discontinued, or at least isn't sold around here, but Dragon's Milk stout is a worthy replacement.

Steve is great, but Amber goes down much smoother!

It looks like your cocktail recipe got muddled somehow.

Ohhh. Well, unfortunately, I didn't get the joke until it was explained in the blog post, but, uh, thanks for that explanation; I did feel like I was missing something. :D
And I did find it somewhat funny still after having it explained -- with a little extra gained back from laughing at myself (a valuable skill to have :)). :D

Sounds good! I couldn't help notice that the recipe had a proper attitude toward rum; Rum, mint leaves, rum, ginger syrup, rum, ice, and rum! :pinkiehappy:

What could possibly go wrong? :derpytongue2:

Yes, thank you, that’s more along the lines of what I’d heard.

It’s been a long time since hearing that joke, TBH.

Hey, I’m not going to tell you how to make your adult beverages (that’s how wars start). Drink what you like

The Equestrian equivalents would be, well, more true to their name.

Somebody familiar with a wide variety of craft beers needs to write a fic where a pony on Earth is trying to figure out what our beer’s made of (or is horrified by the choices available).

I actually had to look up what that meant, ‘cause I had no idea.

Heh, no worries!

Yay, everybody won!

I bet you could skip the soda water if you wanted to fit more rum in it, too.

OK, yes, it's a pun, but the recipe also repeats a bunch of words.
