Contest! Also Book 3, Chapter 56 and Onward... · 8:48pm Mar 13th, 2021
So I'm going to start with this, Vonholtz is dead. He died Feb 28th at 11:06am from a Covid-19 induced Stroke and it's complications. he was declared brain dead on Feb 26th.
A Funeral was held for him here:
This has left me reeling for weeks and it has taken much effort to get this far. Please if you knew him go pay some respects if you didn't; then you really did in a way, at the Tabletop Game he played Scopola Mina.
We are doing what we can to honor him both in the books and at the tabletop.
To that end, his family has told me to give away his copy of book 3 instead of refunding it. They would rather see some joy get spread and people go on to remember him.
So I have agreed to the following contest for all of you:
On this Story: Fallout: Equestria - Dead Tree
I am going to give away a copy of all 3 books to the comment I find the most intriguing between now and my birthday on May 17th.
Furthermore, if the story hits 500 likes by May 17th, as we were already running this contest and I was waiting to release chapter 56 to tell everyone about it; the delay was due to the emotional impact of losing someone I have known for almost 15 years, I have agreed if we meet this goal to allow my followers on discord, patreon, and fimfiction to choose my hair style and color for the first in person convention we are allowed to attend after the pandemic.
We don't have that far to go.
Thank you all for following me and supporting me during this time and I hope you enjoy the story, 57 is complete and waiting on Props to do edits. 58 is in progress and the book 3 should be finished by March 30th waiting on edits, inlay, and finalization for printing.
Thank you for your patience during these trying times.
Holy Crap, I don’t really know how to feel about this. I only knew about him and his role as Mina but it’s still a hard hit.
I honestly don’t know what to say, we have lost so many authors, Fans and content Creators over the last year that just seeing this adds another notch to the sadness meter.
I am both surprised and happy that the Family has decided to pass on the books rather then refunding them, I hope whoever gets them holds them in proper respect even if they don’t read them ever.
That’s all I really have to say.
I haven't even read the series (any of them, but I keep meaning to...) but I also know what it's like to lose someone you've gamed with. In my case, it was horribly senseless. He was diagnosed with early onset diabetes, and was suffering from pancreatic shock. You'd think that would do it, but no, he was responding well to medication. Then he choked to death on a horse pill. A stupid, random chance event after he'd gotten the help he needed to turn his health around.
If the event has taught me anything, it's how important it is to treasure the friendships we have, because we don't have as long with these people as we think we do. And if they do go before us, treasure the time you had with them, then find the strength to move on and make new friends. They'd want that.
I had covid last year. I survived, but at a very high cost. Heart damage, brain fog, the list goes on and on.
If I could trade my life for his, I would. Lost all I owned because my roomie died after I went into a coma. Wake up to find out I'm homeless, my possessions tossed out (including my book collection) and my cat rehomed. Seven months later, I'm still down.
Been following the story for a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed the character of Scopola Mina. Still enjoy the story.
When I get the funds (soon, I hope) you bet buying the series is high on my wish list.
You will pull through. Won't be easy. I know.
I was meaning to jump into Dead after finishing Heroes but hearing this makes me want to buy a copy to honor your friend. I'm sorry for your loss, I know it doesn't mean much from a strange but I will try to support Dead Tree however I can.
