Retrograde - A resurrection, although not a full one · 1:46pm Mar 7th, 2021
Alright. After forever and a half, chapter seven of Retrograde is finally out! It's been a long time coming.
Alas, I think it's time to speak candidly. There was intention to see this chapter out as soon as it was finished. It was 80% done at the time of the last writing (early July of last year). But since then, that chapter sat and sat. The chapter is now finished, and it is out as soon as it was finished, so the promise has been kept. But this state of things doesn't bode well for seeing Retrograde out as it was intended by one or both of us.
How this happened is a long story, and we'll talk more about it later. The short version is that we burned out on Retrograde due to a variety of factors, both external and internal. I thought it would be possible to push through, especially given how my own life has become somewhat freer in regards to my writing. But things have changed. It would not be tenable to try and keep working for several more chapters on the story (I originally projected 12 chapters total, so there would have been 5 more after this). Safe to say, the both of us have moved on from this project in several respects, so whatever our original intentions were for this story are not to be. We have moved our passion elsewhere.
But I must confess that I'm not content to simply cancel the story either. It's a matter of personal pride for me to finish the things that I start. I must finish Retrograde somehow. I must.
So, after talking about this with Onyx, the solution is thus: we'll release one or two more chapters (I'm not 100% sure how much I'll need right now) after this and tidy things up as it were. This is much less that 5; naturally, isn't going to be as thorough or involved as originally planned, but it'll be a conclusion to the story. With any luck, I'll even be able to do it in a satisfying way.
There is, after all, one thing about this that I can still be passionate about. One thing that I haven't done yet. One thing that I can still do. And so long as I have that, I will do my best to make sure that what I bring to you is of my standard of quality.
I know this has been a long and at many times quiet road, but I hope I can ask for some continued patience here. I myself have not given up, and I hope that you all too can spare a little faith here and there~

I can sort of answer that. We'll both likely go into the details we both planned once the epilogue is posted. I can say there are things that I wanted to do that RQK didn't, and vice-versa, so what those plans were starts to diverge at some point.
