The Tom & Jerry 2021 movie is god-awful · 11:52am Mar 5th, 2021
I didn't bother watching it. I just read reviews from critics in Consequence, Slashfilm, The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Roger Ebert, Datebook, Vulture, and Rolling Stone. Its ratings sit at 24% on Rotten Tomatoes and 33/100 on Metacritic.
I feel so sorry for Chloƫ Grace Moretz, one of my favourite actresses, who was dragged into being part of this terrible garbage.
There are several T&J crossover films that have garnered really bad reviews and this 2021 movie that no one asked for adds fuel to the fire. It's not a good idea to drag a creation from the Golden Age to the modern times. Anything that is made in that particular era should remain there. This cashcow gets a -100/10 from yours truly.
I knew it was going to suck as soon as I saw the live-action people. If there is one thing I can give the Smurf movies credit for, it's helping me spot a terrible movie.

Seems like William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, and Pierre "Peyo" Culliford are rolling in their graves right now.
I respect your opinion, but I do have to say you going based on what critics say doesn't really sound good to me.
To me a movie is good based on the individuals enjoyment of it, and as far as I know, critics don't take that into account.
A critical review is limited on some things. Some interview other patrons and some don't. I haven't seen the Tom and Jerry movie yet, but I kinda want to. Because to me, going based on what critics say without seeing any of the movie even if it's small tibbits. Kinda shows that we don't think for ourselves.
Now I know I might sound hypocritical because I say food fight is a tenth circle of hell based on a review by Nostalgia Critic without seeing the movie, but he shows bits and pieces of the film's he reviews, I mainly watch him for his humor, but food fight is definitely a bad movie and probably the reason Charlie Sheen went insane.
Again, I respect your opinion, but it just seems a little biased

What I don't understand is why the fuck Hollywood keeps trying to blend live-action with animated characters. It didn't work with Garfield, it didn't work with the Smurfs, and it didn't work here.

Sometimes, I agree with the critics. Sometimes, I don't. Several movies that I enjoyed watching even though it got mixed or unfavourable reviews from critics are the MLP 2017 movie, Orphan, IT: Chapter Two, Frozen 2, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Are you talking about any animated characters or ones that already exists?
There's an animated segment in Mary Poppins. The incredible Mr. Limpet blended animation and live action.

Ones that already exist, primarily. Btw, Mary Poppins gets a pass due to animated scenes being well done. That's why I didn't mention it when I said Garfield and the Smurfs.

That's good to know. I know I can't tell you what to do. It's just that this reasoning.
Made it seem like you made all your decisions based on critics opinions.
Though I will admit, even though I want to see it, I am a bit iffy because Kim Jeong is in the movie.
He's a funny guy, but sometimes he is a bit much

Correction: Ken Jeong

Probably because Hollywood has the "animation is for kids" ideology still ingrained in their minds.

Ah right

Additionally, my taste for animation has changed over time. Animated series and/or films would certainly grab my attention if they have overarching stories, compelling themes, and character development. I'm not a fan of anything that verges on monotonously silly and ridiculous.

That's understandable
