    Keeping Your Scale Focused

I figure enough time has passed that I can be a little less leery of posting spoilers for Star Trek Picard Season 3. I won't go *too* in depth (and will spoiler tag a few things), but I do want to talk about the work that the writer/director Terry Malalas did with Episode 10 (the last) in particular.

    Reflections on Year Two

When I wrote last year's post, I must admit that I expected to be a little more prolific than I ended up being.

    Such is life, I suppose.

That said, I do think I released some good pieces this year, so I'll refrain from saying it was wasted.

    August 2022 update

    Hello,

Been a hot minute since I’ve done one of these, so a small update today.

To lead off, much like last year I plan to attend Everfree Northwest this year. If you happen to spot me, feel free to say hello!

(if you want - no pressure)

    Make Your Mark Review (spoilers)

I'll start by saying that while this is not going to be a positive review, I'm going to try to keep it constructively negative beyond "this sucks", as I think the problems are fairly clear and easy to point out. And if you liked the show, that's great. I don't think less of you for it! I can be sometimes critical of things that don't bother most, and this review's going to reflect that.

March 2021 update · 10:11pm Feb 28th, 2021

Hello, folks.

Just thought I'd kick out a short blog post to give some updates on future projects. My slate is not endless, but there are several things underway.

  • Untitled Twilight/Luna story: Look, I've done a lot of serious/dramatic/sad stories on this account. I want to do some light and fluffy stuff as well! This will be a short story involving Luna needing to find a birthday gift for Twilight on short notice. EDIT: This was released as The Battle of Carousel Boutique.
  • Untitled Twilight/Rainbow Dash story: Not quite a shipfic, I've been kicking this one around for a while. I expect it to be sub 2000 words when it's done.
  • Coronal Imbalances: This is going to be a much longer (potentially novel length, but likely falling more in the range of a novella) story, involving most of the main cast, the princesses, some original characters, many locations, and plenty of action and drama. I've been working on this one for quite a while (Cadance the Unbroken was actually intended as a short break from it) and I'm hopeful it'll be an enjoyable story when it's done. Despite the fact that I do have several chapters written, I will not start posting until it's all done and edited to a point where I'm comfortable no plot elements will need to be changed, and then chapters will be uploaded weekly until completion.
  • Discordant Legacy (tentative title): This project, at least as I'm currently envisioning it, would be more of a compilation of individual events, detailing the different battles and major occurrences of the ancient war with Discord, and potentially some of the time afterward. Yes, if you've read Luna the Faithful, this was inspired by the two flashbacks I wrote there, and the intent would be to continue with that 'world' as I more or less envisioned it. My thoughts are that this would be something I update periodically, giving me something to work on when I need to step away from other projects.

That's more or less the slate as it looks. Hopefully at least one of those sounds exciting!

Sounds exciting! I really liked some of the ideas you put forth in your Four Princesses series so I'm excited to see more of the wider world you've hinted at!
