"Dad!" Thorax burst into his father's room, and the unreformed male glanced up.
"Thorax? Is something wrong?"
"Kind of... um... dad..." Thorax took a breath. "Which one of us is your favorite?"
Metamorphosis blinked. "Why?"
"We have a bet..." Thorax admitted, and Metamorphosis chuckled.
"Then you'll have to call it off. I love you both equally, Thorax. You're the little love bug who's like me in all but appearance, and Pharynx is the dark warrior, strong, noble, and brave. I could never compare you two." Metamorphosis told him sincerely.
"Oh... okay dad! Thanks!" Thorax hugged him, and Metamorphosis hugged back.
"Of course my son. Just one more question."
"Yeah?"
"How much was the bet?"
"Twenty bits."
"Alright, thank you Thorax."
"No problem dad!" Thorax smiled at him, then promptly skipped out of the room, smiling. Metamorphosis smiled as he left, then, once sure Thorax was gone, he grabbed something, then walked to Pharynx's room.
"Son?"
"Hm? Oh, hey dad, you need something?" Pharynx asked, looking up from where he was polishing a sword.
"I just wanted to give you this." Metamorphosis pulled out a pouch of bits that he'd grabbed, then counted out twenty before giving them to Pharynx. "Don't tell your brother, alright?"
Pharynx grinned and stashed the bits under his carapace. "Thanks dad."
"Of course, my son." Metamorphosis chuckled, winking at him before leaving.

To be fair, Pharynx isn't necessarily the favorite, Meta just finds that he needs to do more for him
