First Real G5 Info Revealed! · 1:19pm Feb 25th, 2021
In the new movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic. Friendship and Harmony have been replaced by paranoia and mistrust, and Ponies now live separated by species. Sunny -- a feisty and idealistic young Earth Pony -- is convinced there’s still hope for this divided world, but her slightly misguided and often hilarious efforts to change hearts and minds have led to her being branded a misfit. When Sunny befriends a lost Unicorn named Izzy, who wanders innocently into the Earth Pony town of Maretime Bay, the town has had enough. Izzy and Sunny must embark on an epic adventure that will include a daring jewel heist, outrageous conspiracy theories, elaborate musical numbers, and the world’s cutest flying Pomeranian. Their adventures will take them to faraway lands and force them to challenge the status quo by facing their fears and making new friends out of old enemies. The world Sunny has dreamed of her entire life could finally become a reality as Sunny and her newfound friends fight to prove that even little ponies can make a big difference.

Ah, the 21st Century..."hey, remember that idyllic fantasy world you used to enjoy? Sike, it sucks now."
All cynicism aside, while I definitely can see how this could go wrong, and I'm not really a fan of the CG look, I'm gonna give it a fair chance to prove itself before I jump on the "this sux" bandwagon.
It could not work, but by the same token it also could. When you stop to think about it, every show or movie is a gamble, and this is no exception.
My stance and advice to the others remains the same: wait and see.
I just noticed the Mane 6 cutie marks scattered all throughout the photo, and even some figurines on the nightstand. Could this pony be a Mane 6 fangirl or something?
So, does this mean that the series takes place long after Twilight, Spike, and the rest of the Mane 6 have passed away? If so, who is ruling Equestria at that time? A bunch of racist aristocrats?
Also, whatever happened to Luster Dawn and Young 6? Did they pass away as well or have they been forced to go into exile by the new government?
It doesn’t seem that bad in my opinion tho I’m still skeptical
I'm cautiously optimistic. I know a lot of neighsayers are out there, but remember people said similar about the MCU about a decade back.
Not every piece of entertainment that gets cranked out of the industry has to be a form of social commentary! You know what? I'm not happy, but I'll hold off on judgment until I actually see what the characters are like.

I know, right?
I just reread the premise, and maybe I overreacted a little at first. I'm still a little alienated, but there's still plenty of room for this to be pretty fun.
I'm willing to give this a go.
I saw some stills for the other characters, and gosh! They're adorable! The premise is still alienating, but apparently, cuteness can cover a multitude of wrongs.
Hold on. Isn't this basically the premise of Raya and the Last Dragon but not really but with ponies?
Gosh! I know I'm totally overthinking this (and over posting about it), but I really can't tell if I'm excited or alienated. Anyone else feel the same way?

That's what I was starting to think, actually. The premise sounds pretty similar to Raya in some ways.

I think what makes the premise so alienating in regards to MLP is that we were already familiar with the world of Equestria and how innocent and wholesome it was when G4 ended, and something about Equestria turning into a world like that just isn't going to sit well with a lot of people, especially me.
