Back in the Saddle, and other horse related idioms

I've got a spring in my step and a fire in my heart! The character forges are hot, and the ideas are flowing swiftly. Soon shall another tale be told!

But first, myself. Who am I, how I've been, and what I'm up to these days:

    It's out

My new Sunburst X Stygian fic is now live!

It might be a bit different from Two Nerds Walk Into a Bookstore, but I'm hoping folks enjoy it nonetheless.

    Beware the Gay Nerds

See, at first this was just gonna be a one-off, but this Sunburst X Stygian ship has been continuing to burn a hole in my brain. I started getting... ideas.

    Update on my fanfictions

Well, truth be told, I haven't worked on the Ink Saga since my last blog post about it. For this reason, I've cancelled it, and the ideas I wanted to put into it will likely be recycled into other stories.

Not all of those stories will be pony-centric.

So where will I post those stories?

Commentaries on the Ink Saga: "Of Ink And Quill" #1 · 1:06am Feb 6th, 2021

Been about a month now since I started writing Of Ink and Quill. I'd say it's going strong, with 4 chapters and 18,318 words. Reception thus far has been limited, with 92 views, 5 likes, and 1 dislike.

Writing this sequel has been easier, mostly because I changed around the format from 1st person to 3rd person. Honestly? I should have started with 3rd person, but in my mind at the time I was like "but 1st person has different opportunites for creativity". There's a myriad of reasons where that can be more limiting than liberating, but the major differences should speak for themselves.

At times I felt I was pushing the story forward inorganically, yet other times it felt like it started to drag far too much. That feeling came mostly from only following a single, limited perspective, as opposed to exploring the threads of how social groups spiderweb across a community. That's what I like about Slice of Life, taking a fantastical world and following how people live and interact across it. Sprinkle in drama and misunderstanding, maybe include some overarching plot that builds in the background, then have the people try to cope with the consequences of that background plot.

Either way, I'm satisifed with how this story is progressing at the moment. At some point I think I'll do an actual, proper revamp of the first part, mostly to fix the writing and try to make the story flow better.
