Are the Dazzlings Sirens or Kelpies? · 6:03pm Feb 4th, 2021
We are told the Dazzlings are Sirens. However, there is something I noticed their altered forms are good appearance for Kelpies.
The Dazzlings
Just like the Changelings of Equestria behave more like Succubus of Earth mythology. Kelpies are also shapeshifters taking appearances of Human or full horse. I think the appearance of the Dazzlings is based on the Kelpies. I did a few google searches and these are a few I found.
Maybe they're Hippocampus that were mislabled as Sirens by ponies

True hippocampus are very similar in appearance to Kelpies. One main difference is behavior Kelpies are monsters, they lure people to them and then drown them, eating the remains.
It's the luring part that got me thinking about the Kelpies. They use various means, one is the beautiful horse the other is the human form. Both are bait.
Hippocampus behave like horses just in the sea lol. They are said to save those who fall into the sea.
Who knows what inspiration lead to the Dazzlings.

It a fun subject to talk about. Of course, one other difference between Kelpie and Hippocampus is that the Kelpies are freshwater evil spirits dwelling along rivers, bogs, and lakes. Hippocampus is sea-based.
But no matter what source it a fun subject to chat about, and I kind of wanted to introduce more people to Scottish mythology!
