A scammer called me today · 6:04pm Jan 24th, 2021
At roughly 11:30 this morning(the date it happened is 01-24-2021 if you're curious) a man with a eastern European accent claiming his name was Michael Douglas and that he was representing Publisher's Clearing House, saying I had won 2.5 million dollars, even though I had not registered with PCH. At first my greedy white boy gene kicked in then a split-second later my bullshit detector overrode it. He first asked me if I had a checkbook, to which I informed him I didn't have a checking account, then he asked me to go down to the store and get a 1vendor card, I informed him that maybe if I went up town today I'd get one, to which he started insisting I go up and immediately and I told that I'd call him when I call him.
A couple of quick internet searches revealed that my bullshit detector was right and it was a scam, so I went to the Federal Trade Commission's website and filed a complaint. As I was finishing the complaint, "Michael Douglas" called back asking if I had gotten the card and I told him that I knew he was a scammer and had filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and that I hoped prison would be kind to his anus and hung up. Five minutes later he called from a different number asking me where I was at and I asked him why he had a Ukrainian accent and he cussed me out then hung up.
If someone calls you up claiming to represent a sweepstakes that you've never filed with and they ask for any banking information, credit card information or want you to get a prepaid card, don't give them any information or get a prepaid card and go to this website: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
I just don’t pick up for numbers I don’t know but thanks for the advice.
