Just a short one though, don't wanna spoil too much but I've gotta admit that it's nice to finally find the time to get back into this tale.
Richard forced himself to sit up straighter on the sofa, his hand still rubbing his head tenderly.
"Okay lay it on me straight, Chrissy," he said. "What's happening to me?"
"It's like I've said before, Richard," I replied, trying and failing to hide my worry. "Your magic is as alive as you or I...and it's manifested in a way I didn't think it could."
"Manifested how?" he asked, his voice pained as he gave a wince. "What exactly happened before?"
I put my hand on his thigh and rubbed it softly as I tried to find the right words to say...but in the end, I could only tell the truth.
"It took you over," I began. "It wasn't like the last time when you killed Celestia's guards, that was more your magic waking up in a hostile and uncontrolled state. This time it took you over completely...in a way that shouldn't be possible."
He squinted at me and rubbed his head again. "What are you saying, Chrissy?"
I sighed and looked directly at his eyes. "I'm saying that it's manifested into its own personality. Your anger and hate are so powerful Richard, powerful enough to give your magic its own shape. By all rights it shouldn't be possible...but then there's never been a Human/Changeling hybrid before either."
He looked at me, an almost dumbfounded expression upon his face.
"Its own personality," he echoed. "Like...what, another me?"
"I think so," I replied, reaching and entwining our hands. "But even then, this is only a temporary thing. Once we get back to the hive, we can get Naerx to look at you and get rid of it."
I put all the hope I could into the words. I had to...I couldn't let him feel just how worried...no, how terrified I was for him.
Nothing like this had ever happened in Changeling history and I was scared.
