A good story displays a moral, the best ones attach you to the characters who display them.

    It's Decided.

After careful deliberation, I've decided to go through with my plans. I'm packing up my stories, and reworking the salvageable ones into more original fiction. A Dragon's Hoard, The Black Beast, A Land Without the Sun, An Exit Untaken, What Am I? and The Treasurefruit Tree are all going to undergo immense, immense reworking to remove them from the context of MLP to see

    About the Future

I've noticed that I've lost a lot of my motivation for writing lately, at least as far as this website specifically. My passion for storytelling is still as vibrant as ever, and I love developing worlds and structuring scenes for proof of concept, but I have a hard time finding it in me to continue developing the stories centered around our favorite pastel horses. I've gotten the feeling that my

So an old friend recommended an anime...

Some show called Your Lie in April. I thought screw it, might as well finally go full weeb and binge some anime. Wouldn't hurt to be a good friend and try out what my friends enjoy, you know?

One episode in: good start, strong introduction to characters that feel alive and resonant.

Three episodes in: some minor complaints, but nothing that damns the overall show.

It's Decided. · 9:45am Jan 20th, 2021

After careful deliberation, I've decided to go through with my plans. I'm packing up my stories, and reworking the salvageable ones into more original fiction. A Dragon's Hoard, The Black Beast, A Land Without the Sun, An Exit Untaken, What Am I? and The Treasurefruit Tree are all going to undergo immense, immense reworking to remove them from the context of MLP to see if they can stand on their own two legs. Not sure how I'm going to get them out there, but I gotta try. Get my name out there at least so when I go around asking for help with bigger projects, people have an idea what I'm capable of.

That's not to say I'm outright cancelling all of my work on here. I might still pop in occasionally with the odd MLP-specific one-shot or so. But I'm not happy with spending all my creative energy on complex projects that are almost inherently restricted by their connection to a pre-existing IP, more specifically one that already has a stigma surrounding its community as far as the public eye goes. It'd be less like coming up with an SCP Foundation storyline, and more like writing Rick and Morty fanfiction and trying to be taken seriously by anyone outside of reddit.

There are also monetary concerns, since finding a suitable job in the current climate seems to be unlikely at best. And as much as I love them, I don't want to live in my friends' attic forever. Eventually I want to be able to afford a house. Nothing fancy, one bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen, and electricity. Enough for a small family. I'm not under the impression that publishing written works is easy, far from it, but at the current state of things it's probably no more difficult than finding any other reliable source of income.

It was fun while it lasted, and I absolutely do not regret any of my time here. I've learned a lot- for better or worse -but now I think I've got to set my eyes on the horizon, if I may be cliche.

Time for a new Dawn! Though, I will definitely still be going by that pen-name. At this point it's a staple in every endevour I've made.

Until Next Time, God Bless You!

So will there a place to read these reworked stories?

I'm hoping to eventually either publish them independantly, or look into trustworthy publishers. So when that time comes it may be possible to find them in bookstores (or wherever people buy books these days) and/or in audiobook form.

Once I get everything sorted out, I will be announcing where they will be available through all my online platforms. But the fanfiction versions of the short stories- specifically An Exit Untaken and What Am I? -will stay available to read here.

Hope you're doing well, friend-a-doodle. ❤

I just noticed this and wish you luck. I’d love to know when you start making independent content and were so that I can begin following it.
