Don't Worry, I'm Not Dead (Status update 3/19)

    Hey guys.

Soooo.... I'm not dead, I figure I should probably start there. Sorry for not giving you guys an update in a long while. A couple people were worried I had just outright died, so I just wanted to post for that reason and give some explanation why I haven't posted or logged in in a while.

Status Report 3/1/2014 (New story coming soon)

    Hey guys!

Just wanted to give an update on how things are going on my end.

First of all, you may have noticed yesterday that the Vinyl Scratch Tapes was on the featured section of Fimfiction, I wanted to thank all of you that have read it over the years, as well as all the new readers now!

Preview of the A. K. Yearling Story

(Keep in mind, what you'll be reading is from the currently in-progress rough draft, so I'm sure there will be some spelling or grammatical errors I'm sure I've missed. The final product will definitely be in a much more polished state and certainly won't be this rough when fully completed. If you don't mind this being a little rough around the edges, please read ahead and I hope you enjoy it.

Still Ain't Dead Yet (Status Update: 1/18/2021) · 6:11pm Jan 18th, 2021

Hey there! Been a long time since I logged on here.

I still see relatively recent comments worrying if I died. I have not, in case people were genuinely worried about that. I've stated this in prior posts, but as you all probably figured, I just fell out of MLP and got into other things. I do have an Archiveofourown.org account if any of you happen to be interested in other fanfics I've done over the years (the vast majority are Steven Universe, but there are some other fandoms sprinkled in there and I plan on doing some stuff with other ones going forward). The AO3 has been a little stagnant the past year due to personal reasons over the past year, so even if you have kept track of me on there you may have still been concerned about me being alive, which is fair, heh.

Having said that, I'm glad the Vinyl Scratch Tapes is still being read and enjoyed. There's a lot of things with it I probably could have done better if I were to writing it with the level of experience I have now (when you write for a while and look back on your older stuff, the mistakes are a lot more glaring than they were at the time), but all in all, considering the level of love people did and still do for it, I doubt I would change a thing at this point.

... well, okay, maybe I'd kinda still want to change season 2 episode 3 a little, but I think we're all well past that now, haha.

Hey, here's a reminder in case newer people may not know: the original audio adaptation of the first season (and the first episode of season two) of TVST is still on Youtube! I know as a writer I shouldn't say this, but this is honestly the best way to experience the first season in my eyes, every single one of the performances elevated everything I put on the page. And you can still view it here:

I knew the guys who worked on this pretty well at the time and in my opinion meeting all of them was the best thing that came from me being in this fandom. I actually reconnected with GreatDinn (the voice of Blueblood) very recently after a long lapse of time and I'm glad I did. He was one of the best friends I ever had, and even after so long, I'm glad to say he still is. I haven't heard from many of the others for a long while (with one exception I'm about to get into), and I hope they're all doing well. Not gonna lie, I miss all of them.

Also hey, another adaptation was done of the first two episodes a few years back (as well as some additional shorts) by Featherfall Studios! I had the opportunity to talk to them a few times and they seemed very nice as well. AND Hannah who did the voice of Vinyl Scratch in the original adaptation reprises her role, which was great to see (I've spoken to her a few times over the years, though not as often as I should have. She's always been extremely nice and she always did Vinyl's character justice in my mind).

You can see the first episode of that adaptation here also:

Good stuff.

I think that's probably all that's worth saying now. If I ever get up to something major, I'll be sure to keep you all informed. It might take a long time, but hopefully some of you feel a little good knowing I'm still alive, still doing stuff.

Thanks for everyone who's ever read TVST and enjoyed it. It's nice to know something I wrote almost ten years ago, still resonates with people (ten years, Christ, where does the time go ...). I'm leaving everything up, as always. If you do enjoy it, don't hesitate to leave a comment. It might take you a half-decade to get a reply (hopefully not, but it *might*), but I do read what you guys wrote and the good comments I still get don't fail to bring a smile to my face.

You guys take care. Stay safe, be good to one another, hopefully we all have a good year. Till next time ...

-Corey
