The blog title is simply a quote from the Ministry song I happen to be listening to whilst I am on my lunch break from work. The song is - of course - "Just One Fix." Lest it be said my music playlist is not confusing, the next song on the list is Don Henley with "All She Wants To Do Is Dance." Listen to these gears crunch!

A friend of mine (the supremely lovely Hudson Hawk) has been a big influence for me recently with respect to writing. I have just been so lazy with my work here that it's become something of a cliche.

My new job has been running well! Given that I am in the US and my employment is full-time, I am of course constantly worried about being laid off without any warning at all (because ... you know ... "at will" employment). If you suffering from GAD and already have constant doubts about the quality of your work, to be having to live in a Country where you boss basically has a gun taped to your employment contract 24 hours a day makes everything very intense. I hate emails, SMS messages, phone calls, or Slack chat tags, because each time I hear from somebody here ... I just assume I'm being terminated. Honestly, without Phenibut (a mild GABA agonist) and my Clonazepam, I would not be able to handle this job, the stress would just put me back into hospital ... just like two years ago ... where my previous job put me.

I think I am now over the worst of the SARS-CoV-2 infection I had. It was certainly on-par with the bronchopneuomonia I had a few years ago. My o2 sats certainly tanked to about the same level. So I did hit the point of mild shock, but made it through without needing to be hospitalized. This is another great piece of news, because health care here in the US is basically a license to be turned into a debt serf for life. It would be more cost-efficient to simply stay home and either survive with o2 sats hitting 70 on their way down, and just dying here. If I'd needed to be put into hospital and God forbid ended up in the ICU, I would have to work until I was 350 just to pay that off. It would be better to simply pass away, and leave my life insurance policy, superannuation fund and share portfolio to my family (well ... my share trading portfolio is actually being left exclusively to Lady Q ... along with 10% of my super fund ... have I ever mentioned to anyone that I love them very, very much?). Those two weeks were really strange ones. If you combine fever dreams, with NyQUIL and Seroquel dreams ... then everything gets really odd for a while. I was never sure what day it was, or what time of day or night it was. I just kept trying to figure out if what I was dreamt was actually real. Several of my friends received groggy messages from me at 03:00 in the morning, asking whether they had really come to my room and asked to eat my boots, or if that just the NyQUIL/Seroquel/Fever talking.

So yes - the sarbecovirus known as SARS-CoV-2 ... I don't recommend it. Except for the history books. And this novel mRNA method of vaccination?? I love it!

Working remotely from home now means I need to switch physically between my work PC and my home PC every morning, and then back again in the evening. The plan this year is to build a new gaming PC for this desk (the Pinkie 6000) and then recycle the Pinkie 5000 to become my Linux development platform.

I did finally get to replace my laboratory microscope, too! I had been without a scope since the brilliant folks who were servicing the head unit decided to send it off to where I was living when I BOUGHT THE SCOPE. NOT to where I was actually living presently. Now that I have my scope, all I need is a place to actually put it so I can continue my studies in histology.

I have little other news.

If you mean switching stuff like mouse, keyboard and monitors, you may want to invest in these two:

Or similar. It allows you to switch between your work PC and laptop/desktop with one push of a button. Extremely useful when working from home :unsuresweetie:

I know I can always use a KVM or similar, but I'm only working from home presently BECAUSE I had SARS-CoV-2.

As soon as I get my clean follow-up test, I'll be just going back into the office.

So whilst yes, any of those would be awesome, I just don't want to spend the money on them when I'll only need for another few weeks at most.

Thank you, though!!
