Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021! · 5:36pm Dec 31st, 2020
Let's not mince words, folks. This year has been a really shitty one for a lot of people. We've had plans upended and lives turned upside-down. We've had communities ripped apart and families separated.
But it's soon to be over now. The turning of a calendar page may not instantly erase all of our problems, but I like to think of the new year as being symbolic of a fresh start. I'd like us all to join together and remember the lessons that this difficult year has taught us: the importance of family and health over material things, the meaning of gratitude, and the real definition of community. And I'd like us to take that knowledge into 2021 with the mindset of not just surviving, but living for the future. With the development of a covid vaccine and the inauguration of a hopefully competent President in three weeks, 2021 does have a light at the end of the tunnel.
But that doesn't mean we can slack off now. Keep wearing your masks, socially distancing, and washing your hands, not just for your own sake, but for the sake of your loved ones and neighbors. As long as we keep our heads together and stay close to our loved ones for support, we'll all get through this happy, healthy, and safe.
