Changing 25 year old character names is not easy.

I've been messing around with my original stories, tightening up the back history of some of my races and doing a much-needed clean up on alien names that I've resisted doing for 25 years. The resistance comes mostly from familiarity, been using these names on those characters for over two decades and by now just know these characters so well under those names.

It was always in the back of my head that for anybody but me, these names looked too odd and really hard to read, especially when it came to pronunciation. Granted I could defend them by saying these are alien names from an alien language, so naturally they wouldn't look like names originating from human languages on earth.

However, I finally took the plunge and started doing the needed fixes to the names so at least to human eyes they read better and give a better idea how they are pronounced. But let me tell you, right now they look weird to me and some I'm now really unhappy with because they just don't seem to fit the characters anymore. I'm already considering a complete retool of some of the names.

Still, hopefully when I eventually write something properly that I actually publish, these characters' names will be easier on the eye and the tongue of readers.
