My, what a year... and I thought 1945 was rough. Not that I was there, I'm definitely not an immortal time traveller or anything... but 2020's gonna be one for the record book, and not many of them for good reasons.
So I hope you're all having happy holidays this month. I'd like to recommend something I found really helpful, a gratitude journal. Two to three times a week just use some paper / notebook / pc and put down a few things you're grateful for today, and a few things you're grateful for in your life. If nothing comes to mind it's fine, just put something you enjoyed like the coffee turning out perfect, or that steamy clop you think your fim fic friends don't know you're into. Joking aside, focusing on the good moments had a tremendous impact for me because life's always gonna be full of shit and at the end of the day, the only thing you control is if you focus on the bad or the good. A simple exercise like the gratitude journal has been proven to greatly reduce depression, and just otherwise improve overall mental health.
And now that you've got my well wishes, I suppose we're past due for an update on my stories and my life. Last time I updated was pretty long ago. Well, I haven't written anything (surprise) and I'm not making it any easier on myself as the fandom is waiting for the next big MLP project. I've thought about it and right now it seems like the best thing to do would be maybe a few chapters to wrap up a few loose ends, or some one-shots to see if I even enjoy writing anymore... which is basically to say "maybe" like I've been saying for 5 years. A part of me wants to just admit that it's been years, but I enjoyed my time writing and with the fandom too much to let go yet. And as long as I feel like I can come back, I remember it a lot more fondly... So who knows maybe I just drop a ton of content out of the blue one day, or maybe I die as I have lived: delusional and shouting at people to get off my lawn.
Uh, but aside from that things are going well. My industry wasn't as impacted as others, found better work, better State, just not a better car but one step at a time... I keep pretty busy but haven't really had time for any hobbies which probably isn't the best. Spent my whole life basically on the move but in a few more months I think I'll finally have settled down. I did almost all my writing in a few years where I had total security in my job, housing, transportation, and food. I'm almost back to that point which can only bode well for people that actually enjoy the non-sense I write. I mean, it's not all bad, I don't think my stories are making the rounds in any of the "Trainwreck Explorer" groups but maybe my old stories are and they were just polite enough not to rub it in. I'd hate to think my stories are considered crappy now because you're into Grimdark Yona, or Gallus/Ocellus fics. Come to think of it, "Sweet Twilight's School of Friendship Massacre" could probably farm me a lot of fake internet points...
So I guess that kinda wraps it up: I'm well, I'm as likely to release a new story as George R. R. Martin, and since I have some internet stranger's attention who are reading this— seriously... fuck season 8 of Game of Thrones. Mandalorian is awesome. Dave Filoni/Jon Favreau, I'd have your babies. I don't care how, I'd find a way, thank you for saving Star Wars.
Oh yeah and the whole point of the blog: Merry Christmas to all, and to all dear god I hope we make it to January 1st.

December 31st, Cthulhu will awaken, his presence heralded by the gibbering of lunatics as R'lyeh surges up to the surface from its sunken resting place. He'll stretch forth his unfathomable consciousness to properly announce his presence to the frail wisps of mortal existence that infest this world. And from our quivering minds, that turn to sterile dust under the immense psychic weight of an Elder God, he will wring the knowledge of 2020's existence.
And he will put R'lyeh into a hard reverse, sending it crashing back down into the lightless depths from whence it rose. Because what can an Elder God do to top the carnival of calamity and shit that '20 has been? It's pretty much tainted the entire decade by association, so fuck all that and he's going back to sleep.

It's just a hunch but with Covid globally fucking an entire society within the span of a few months, I started to be more grateful for the few things that weren't ruined. One thing is definitely comparable to your case, my industry is generally very home-office-y anyway. Really the biggest gripe not being able to do anything even if you wanted to.
Then again, maybe that just gives me a valid excuse for once in my life. Not like much else would've happened anyway.
I'm actually right in the middle of rereading Twilight's Dollhouse for nostalgia's sake. Back when everything was simpler. Good days they were.
