Story Time Part 2 (I got a desk dropped on my foot) · 9:37am Dec 24th, 2020

I'm still procrastinating. Because I'm writing my that Jinglemas story and Im scared that i'm either going to f*ck this up or my person isn't going to write mine, so lets do two stories because avoiding your problems is a-okay. But, to be fair, it's like 4 AM where I live so I still have like 20 hours to write 1.5k words. This one went from calmly working on a group project to me threatening to k*ll someone (I'm so sorry I'm on my school computer and I don't know what triggers the software, but I don't want to almost get ISS again.)

So, this happened in late 5th grade, which as we've established many times, was a fun year because everyone was so nice and welcoming and it was totally not traumatic at all. I was working on sort of a final project with one of my friends and 2 people that I didn't like. As social as I am, I hate group projects. Partner projects are fine, but group projects are absolutely dreadful. Because people are stupid. I either have to do everything myself, or people don't show up, or people don't do things right, or people disregard the rubric and I can go on. But whatever, the two boys were doing their section and i was doing my section with my friend, who we'll call Alex. Alex is basically an emo, sarcastic Fluttershy. That's the best way I can think to describe them. So the way we divided the work was that i was doing the research (It was a presentation about marketing job area, because that was where our aptitude tests were apparently), and Alex was writing everything down. We were all sitting in the front of the classroom with two boys in another group sitting on my right, while my group was sitting to the left. Now, these two kids were using their intellect in the most productive way possible by playing with those old-fashioned wooden desks that were in almost every 3rd-5th grade math classroom in my school. Why does everything always happen in math? Like geez half the school stories I have occurred in some math class.

Anyway, they were irritating me because they were shaking it and making all this noise, so I asked them to stop, I don't think I was rude about it, I probably said something along the lines of "Hey could you guys please stop that and like do your work?" And they either said 'we're finished' or 'we don't want to Miss bossy'. I don't remember that much of the interaction, because I didn't care. I either disliked or was indifferent to them. Thinking back, I think I had a slight dislike for them because they were consistantly annoying but they weren't outright rude to me. Until now, of course.

So we went back and forth for a while, and Alex is telling me not to get all worked up and just ignore them, which is good advice for anyone, and I probably would have gotten mad, but we were super behind on the project and needed to get a lot done today. And I was starting to finally understand that getting mad and vindictive was pointless in the grand scheme of things, so I was trying my best to ignore them, and I eventually move my foot to in front of the desk to stop them from shaking it. And I was wearing flats. I tried to put an image but it wouldn't work right so just look it up if you want to see what they look like. But they left like pretty much the entire upper half of my foot exposed. You could see everything except for the bottom and my toes. So they didn't offer much in the protection category.

I wasn't looking at them because I was looking at my computer screen and talking to Alex. When suddenly, they dropped the freaking wood and metal desk square on my right foot. And in the moment, it hurt a ton. And they did it doing something I specifically told them to stop doing. So i turned around the best I could with them stepping back and being like 'bro I'm sorry, i'm sorry,'. So then I, rationally, respond with " I... Am going. to K*LL YOU!" And that's when this teacher rushes over. This teacher is a piece of sh!t. Not only because he was kind of rude at times, but because this was the teacher that reprimanded me when I was abandoned by all my peers and teachers in the middle of the woods. So he quickly rushes me out, and of course it was a scene, we were in the front of the classroom and I had loudly threatened him.

So this teacher, whom from this moment forth shall be referred to as Mr. POS, talks to me in the hallway because he's 'worried for my safety'. And I'm like sure, whatever let me go to the nurse. I got a desk dropped on my functionally bare foot. He asks me a couple questions and then lets me go.

Now, you'd think that's be it, but I wouldn't dedicate a whole blog post to this if it was. I walk down to the main office with the nurse, where my reading teacher was for some reason. And this teacher tells me that the nurse was on her lunch break. So I'm like fine, whatever, when is she going to be back? And she says ' i don't remember'. So i'm like fantastic. i sit down in the sick bed (the fact that there was only one spot to lay down in the nurse's office in the whole school is kind of strange. The middle school has 2 ,and I haven't seen the high school one because it's been converted to a quarantine room for people showing covid symptoms, but I believe there's 4 from the glimpses I've seen, so...) So this office worked like this, there were two seats for kids either waiting to speak with the principal or in ISS or waiting for the nurse, and there were two spots on the other side of the office for kids who were being sent home for any reason. But you really weren't supposed to sit in those two seats because that's also where parents would sit to wait for various things. There weren't any parents there that day, but no one really sat there anyway.

The way the nurses office was built, I couldn't actually see anyone on the outside, so I only got to hear, and I'm pretty sure they forgot i was in there because I wasn't about to be disturbing adults, especially in the office.

Now, the nurse and principal were both gone, so it was a secretary and my teacher manning the whole thing. And for some reason, everything just started going haywire. I don't remember everything that happened, because I'm slightly preoccupied and I couldn't see a thing. I'm sure a kid or two left with their parents for a doctors appointment, but since it was around 1 there wasn't anyone who was coughing or vomiting because they came to school sick.

But here's what I put together. First, a girl was apparently standing in the middle of a classroom and said "I think I'm going to faint," and then she straight up fainted. She woke up right after but geez. That must have been interesting for those 9 year olds to see. She came in and sat down in the first chair to wait for the nurse.

And then, there's a call. And apparently, one of the second grade classrooms was in the library, and one of them peed themself on the wooden memorial bench dedicated to one of our principals who died. I mean, what? That was, uh a thing. That happened. While I was waiting in the nurses office for her to come back from her freaking lunch break! So, little kid comes in, and eventually gets some clothes from the lost and found.

And then i think a few more may have come in but I stopped paying attention because I was getting pissed. Like, I knew it had been longer than 15 minutes and not only was my foot still in a dull pain, but my group was likely getting nothing down without me. Personally, the latter was what I was more concerned with.

Finally, the nurse came back. She seemed a little shocked when she came in to see 3-4 kids waiting for her, but she comes in and is like, "What happened? Can you walk? How much does it hurt? I'm going to call your mom." Eventually, I leave and walk back to my classroom. When i walk in that door, literally everyone surrounds me and asks if I'm okay, because they all saw what happened, or asked what happened after I started making death threats. I'm like yea I'm fine. Everyone was in that circle except for Mike, because we were in an on and off shortly before the playground thing happened. Then i sit down in the back table because someone took my spot in the front table, and this random chick walks up to me and is like "Mike is breaking up with you," and of course, he didn't tell me himself, he had to bring in this freaking stranger. I try to ask him why and he's not answering so i'm like, whatever, screw you.

But back to the project, i asked Alex what exactly got done while I was gone and they respond 'nothing'.

NOTHING!

So now class was over, it was Friday, we were going to present Monday, and we weren't done. And that is when I lost most of my faith in others. I'm still friends with Alex and the presentation was finished and went well but like...

I went home, played in a soccer game the next day, and scored a goal.

if you're wondering about that teacher or Mike or why I hated that year, here are some entries about that.

Jeez, I should start a storytime Youtube. But anyway, I finally have a jinglemas idea, however I've already spent like 45 minutes writing this so I want to sleep. It's 4:30 AM. The caffeine is wearing off. Good night.

Because I'm writing my that Jinglemas story and Im scared that i'm either going to f*ck this up or my person isn't going to write mine

If I recall correctly, the Jinglemas group has additional writers set aside to write you a story if your Secret Santa doesn't come through. So, on the bright side, you're going to get a story no matter what.

Hope this helps ease your mind!
