Story Time · 5:32am Dec 24th, 2020

Hello, and a happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate it. I haven't done a storytime in a while, so I figured I may as well do one now. I'm procrastinating super hard right now so don't be surprised if I think of another one. This one actually doesn't revolve around me, this is something that happened to someone else that I witnessed in a second grade math class. So, let's get started.

I was sitting in math class and talking with my friend, let's call her Bella. We were on our chromebooks doing place value on some site. I remember the site itself being more interesting than the work, because lets be honest, place value isn't that hard. There was this other girl in my class too, let's call her Vanessa. Vanessa was, like, extremely short. Probably one of the shortest in our class. I don't remember too much about her, because we never really talked much, I think I became friends with her at some point later in the year, but we weren't friends at the time, but classes were smaller at the time and I was aware of her existence.

As we were sitting there, we heard the sound of something spilling on the floor. Like, the sound of someone pouring a small water container out. Now, Vanessa was sitting at a table about 5 feet away from the one I was at but shifted 90 degrees. I look over at her standing up and looking down. I couldn't figure out what was going on at first, but then Vanessa started crying. And everyone was looking at each other like wut. Then the teacher came over and was like 'Vanessa, what's wrong?" And she responded "I had an accident" and me and Bella looked at each other, confused, because you don't just expect someone to pee their pants in the middle of math class when you're older than 6.

And the worst part is i don't remember why, but homegirl had a dress on, not like a casual dress you'd wear to a playdate or something, no no. The kind of dress you'd wear to get Christmas pictures taken, with a long sleeved black velvet top and a flowy bottom that goes down to her knees. I wish they made those for adults because damn those dresses were so fun. It wasn't her birthday or picture day, so like, idk. So she's standing there in a puddle in a nice dress crying. And we were sitting down so it was probably on the chair too. And the teacher is trying to console her and asks why she didn't raise her hand to ask to go and she says I did, but you didn't see it.

Now, i don't know the validity of that statement, I knew she rose her hand, because I saw it, I wasn't that far away. But like how did the teacher not see it? It was up for a while from what i remember, and we were all working on our chromebooks, so there couldn't be that many people who needed assistance. Some things may never be solved, I guess.

So the teacher is trying to figure out what to do, and she ends up calling the nurse. The nurse is apparently on her lunch break or something, and lemme tell you, from personal experience, this lady must chew thoroughly to take as long as she does with her lunch. Like, once she came back to a queue of like 3 kids waiting for her. And i knew because I was in the front of that queue that lovely day. Anyway, so while waiting for nurse to come, the teacher instructs Vanessa to sit back down in her chair. When I heard that I was like 'ew gross you're making her sit in her own pee'. I'd rather stand for an hour than sit down if it was me in that situation. Especially if I was in that poofy dress of hers.

So after 15-30 minutes, the nurse finally comes with a red sweater, she tells her to wrap it around her waist and come meet with her dad in her office. After they leave, the teacher tells us that since 'Vanessa's hand is so small the next time she raises her hand, we should tell her'. I don't know about you, but that would irritate me even more so than a teacher taking their time to notice me. But I'm not the one to ignore a student asking to go to the bathroom for so long that she wet herself so what do I know?

She did end up coming back, at 2:30, 15 minutes before school ended. I talked to her a bit in the dismissal line.

Well, that's all folks.

Merry Christmas.
Happy Hanukkah.
Happy staying in with warm drinks-mas.
Positive vibes.
