Process for Tools of the Trade: A Thing

    Soooo...

This story originally started as a comedy, based on the comment from Estee: what if there was an MLP equivalent of a Kickstarter program run by Flim and Flam? Except, of course, it would be a lot more focused on scamming than it already is.

    A random TwiDancer tidbit

“Hey, Twilight! Moondancer! You finally came!”

“Well, Minuette, this pony here was stuck to her desk again, and you wouldn’t believe how much work it was to pry her away.”

“Hey, that’s not fair! I just needed to write a draft of my letter to Thorax! It’s going to be the anniversary of their freedom from Chrysalis, and Equestria might want to send delegates.”

Soooo...

This story originally started as a comedy, based on the comment from Estee: what if there was an MLP equivalent of a Kickstarter program run by Flim and Flam? Except, of course, it would be a lot more focused on scamming than it already is.

That led to me thinking of a suitable scam. As someone who draws digital stuff on mouse rather than tablet, I was thinking that a Flim and Flam showcasing an unconventional method of drawing would be interesting. This would require likely require an artist who, due to certain reasons, would be forced to try out a Bitparter product.

Of course, it's Flim and Flam. It's not going to work.

I also needed some sort of conflict, so starving artist + commission did the trick. Who did the commission? Why not the Wonderbolts?

At some point, the story became more about Dewdrop's relationship with Spitfire than about the art itself. The letter from Spitfire to Dewdrop was always in the story, but there was an issue with Spitfire's motivations for writing back to Dewdrop. Why did Spitfire respect Dewdrop enough to personally write a letter? I needed a better backstory. Thus, a couple thousand words of a cheap flashback scene.

And, well, that's the story!
