Indigo Responds to 30 Fanfic Questions · 5:46pm Dec 18th, 2020

I found the list here.

  1. favorite fic you wrote this year: Even though I wish I could've spent more time on the ending, Silent Wings broke a lot of new ground for me. It was born from a spark of inspiration just as I was about to take a break from writing fanfics, contained no OCs, tackled a serious subject, stuck to one perspective for entire chapters, taught me to write in the perfect tense without overusing the word "had", has some scene-setting descriptions that I'm proud of (see #3), and was probably the first fanfic to roleswap a member of the Student Six (even though that wasn't the focus of the story).
  2. least favorite fic you wrote this year: Photosynthetic Love was an incredibly rushed MLP/Pokémon romance story, and I don't care about romance. I felt so ashamed of it that I deleted it.
  3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year: "One Glad to be a Hippogriff Weekend, while most of the festivities took place at the top of the mountain, Silverstream lay in a secluded corner of the beach and breathed a long, deep, sigh. She could see the orange glow of the setting sun as it touched the ocean's horizon, she could feel its warmth against her downy feathers, and she could smell the refreshing, salty air, but it felt incomplete. Where were the squawks of the seagulls? Where was the gentle splashing of the waves as they licked the shoreline at low tide? Where was the laughter of the fledgelings who ran across the sand without a care in the world?" (Silent Wings, chapter 2)
  4. total number of words you wrote this year: I didn't keep count.
  5. most popular fic this year: Luster Dawn's Roommate was my first (and so far only) feature on Fimfiction.
  6. least popular fic this year: Digital Access Network: Dimensions and Darkness barely got any attention, and it's why I don't exclusively post fanfics on AO3 anymore. Thank dog for Offprint.
  7. longest completed fic you wrote this year: Silent Wings (>7,000 words) was the first multi-chapter fanfic I've ever completed, not counting a terrible Pokémon anthology I wrote in 2015.
  8. shortest completed fic you wrote this year: Modern History is a 1,029 word oneshot.
  9. longest wip of the year: The Lost Fledgling of Griffonstone is this by default, since my other unfinished fanfics are cancelled.
  10. shortest wip of the year: N/A
  11. fandom you enjoyed writing for the most this year: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
  12. favorite character to write about this year: Gallus
  13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year: N/A
  14. a fic you didn’t expect to write: Silent Wings. I signed up for a contest, but didn't have any ideas for what my entry could be, until a half-formed idea that'd been in my head for a while suddenly turned into a pair of coherent backstories.
  15. something you learned this year: Don't be afraid to ask bigger authors for help.
  16. fic(s) you completed this year: Silent Wings
  17. fics you’ll continue next year: Probably none, since I'm hoping to post the final chapter of TLFoG sometime within the next week.
  18. current number of wips: 1
  19. any new fics to start next year: Polaris: Hither and Yonder (a roleswap of the 2017 MLP movie where Skystar seeks help from the ponies) and Phantom Thief Vaporeon (the titular character is from a world where Pokéballs don't exist, and ventures into ORAS Hoenn.)
  20. number of comments you haven’t read: 0
  21. most memorable comment/review: That time I came up with headcanons about what various MLP races' sign languages would be like with a commenter on Silent Wings.
  22. events you participated in this year: Silent Wings was an entry for a contest called Depth in Innocence. Also, I ran a roleswap contest.
  23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t: A Pokémon/BNA fusion fic, and something about the A-Squad from Power Rangers SPD.
  24. favorite fic you read this year: Ask Not the Sparrow
  25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read: I can't decide.
  26. number of favorites/bookmarks you made this year: I didn't keep count.
  27. favorite fanfic author of the year: I can't decide.
  28. longest fic you read this year: I started reading some long fanfics, but didn't get very far.
  29. shortest fic you read this year: I don't know.
  30. favorite fandom to read fic from this year: MLP
