Near Christmas Update · 8:01pm Dec 12th, 2020
I just thought i'd give you guys an update, as we close in on Christmas.
First of all, i've written down my Christmas wishlist, and my folks and I are close to done with the Christmas shopping we're able to do, considering the current conditions of the outside world.
I've recently had some stomach problems that i've needed to get over. They seem to be mild, though.
And on a fanfiction related note, sorry that I still haven't written the next chapter of The Brilliance of a Restful Mind. I promise you it's not cancelled or anything, i've just been a slow and lazy person, spending time writing miscellaneous things, listening to music and watching videos to keep myself entertained. If you've put up with me for this long, thank you, and if I ever get Chapter 4 up, I hope you'll continue reading my story.
One reason I haven't been writing Chapter 4 is because i've been planning something that's a lot bigger than The Brilliance of a Restful Mind, though it's far more... let's say derivative. I intend on doing a rewrite of the final two-parter of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and even slightly rewriting the arc episodes leading up to it. Yeah, I know, it's been done before, but I have some ideas that would've enhanced that final arc in ways that feel more satisfying to me personally. I used to like the final two-parter, kind of, but have grown a whole truckload of disdain for it in the year since it premiered, which is what inspired me to buckle down and think about how i'd rebuild what I now perceive as a terribly flawed final arc for an otherwise great T.V. series. No, I don't see myself as superior to the MLP:FiM writing staff in any shape or form, and whenever I get this rewrite off the ground, nobody has to accept it as canon. As much as I now hate the official arc and final two-parter, I realize they can never actually be redone, replaced or erased. What I make will just be fanfiction that reshapes this storyline to my preference. Here's what to expect from this:
- Filling the void left in the League of Evil after Sombra's final defeat (the replacement character may not be who you'd expect)
- Giving the Bewitching Bell more powers to make it more of an interesting and threatening item
- Making the League of Evil's power enhancements from the Bewitching Bell more interesting
- Expanding on the mistrust that builds among the pony races
- Having the League of Evil's plan to double-cross Grogar fail, inspiring a new approach to eventually taking his power for themselves
- Removing a certain plot twist regarding Grogar, thus making him part of the story for real
- Remembering a certain long-lost magical charm is a thing and integrating that into Grogar's plan (want to guess which one, and for what purpose?)
- Remembering the whole thing about Grogar being the Father of Monsters and integrating that into the League of Evil's attack
- Showing how exceptionally intelligent, powerful, sadistic and resilient Grogar really is
- Giving Tirek an interaction with Starswirl
- Establishing a connection between Grogar and the many world-threatening events that happened throughout the entire series
- Altering Discord's motivations
- Giving characters like Sunburst, Trixie, Thorax, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, the Student Six, Shining Armor and Cadence more to do
- Revealing a certain character from a certain villain's history
- Showing that Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon still lie dormant in Celestia and Luna and making them integral to the heroes' survival
- Remembering that the Treehouse of Harmony is a thing and making it integral to the heroes' success
- Making the shards of Chrysalis' throne integral to the heroes' success
- Giving Chrysalis interactions with Thorax, Ocellus and the rest of her former subjects
- Giving full closure to Gallus and Grampa Gruff's relationship
- Explaining what became of Tirek's kingdom
- Showing how much closer the League of Evil have become as partners in crime since they were first formed
- Giving Cozy Glow interactions with the Cutie Mark Crusaders
- Adding a lot more action, especially to the final battle
- Putting Twilight through so much more physical and mental trauma to bring her to as critical a low point as possible to rise back up from
- Making the Windigos have more of a devastating effect on the world
- Giving the villains a more near-decisive victory before their ultimate downfall
- Calling back to the Founders of Equestria in a plot-important way
- Remembering Flurry Heart being the heroes' last chance if all else fails
- Having some supporting characters die in the conflict
- Bringing back a certain forgotten power-up, and making it better than ever
- Expanding on the League of Evil's punishment after they're defeated
- Giving Discord a proportionate punishment
- Having a bittersweet bookend with Twilight in a position paralleling what was established at the very beginning of the series
Explaining that the horrible experiences of this final battle for the fate of the world have left Twilight emotionally crippled
So whenever I get a full script for this rewrite off the ground, i'd like to share it with anyone who'd be willing to look into it and see what I could do to improve it, and whenever I truly get it out there, I hope it can be enjoyed by not only those who, like me, were dissatisfied with the official final arc and two-parter, but even those who do like it. If any of the things I listed sound interesting, or silly, let me know. Or don't. I'm a small FIMFiction user, so I don't expect a flock of people to come commenting here.
That'll be all for the moment. Here be Stache Hand the Clutcher, out and about!
