A Question About Local · 2:21pm Nov 28th, 2020
Hi all,
So, this is to ask any readers of Local who see this blog their opinion on something. As you might know, Local updated a fair while ago and has been quiet since, but I have said multiple times I'm still actively working on it and this is very much the case. This reason for the delay is because this next chapter is very, very hard to write.
As is probably unsurprising, the chapter takes a diary format, which is a stylistic change up as is, without considering the main reason the chapter is hard to write.
Local has, from the beginning, been very personal. It's a story whose themes and concepts are chosen very specifically. I'm not saying I live in a town where everyone stares at me, but the feelings borne from moving from a city back to a small town were the story's genesis. So, in a sense, writing a diary in this story is a bit like writing my own diary. And merging that with fiction, coupled with going into the themes, is a bit difficult.
So, here's my question. Would people prefer me to keep working on the chapter and release it when it's fully done, or release it in smaller chunks so you can get more frequent updates. This isn't just due to time, either. This chapter is likely gonna be very long based on where I am with it and how much is left. So when I say 'smaller chunks' I don't mean like three 1000 word chapters.
Anyway, if you have an opinion let me know. I don't know what I'm gonna do as of yet, but hearing from anyone who sees this and does have a preference one way or another could be helpful.
Cheers,
Seer
I for one tend to binge stuff when it’s done. Gimme a dummy thicc update.
Whatever is easiest for you to work with bro
I find difficult projects to be easier when they’re in small, discreet chunks. Hitting small milestones keeps me going. But do whatever works for you; I’m just glad to hear you’re still working on it.
this is so late ;-; but short chapters that i can gobble up as a snack would be nice. i am prone to distraction
I mean. From the point of view of someone who craves for a new lines of the story more regular releases sounds quite good.
But essentially both options are fine.
Release it when it's done. I'm just glad it hasn't fallen by the wayside - I'm really interested in where the story goes.
