So I've been sitting on a giant pile of old ideas that I've either abandoned for time reasons or realized weren't very good and thus never got further than a simple description. Buuuut I've done enough work on them that I figured I'd share some of them here with you all. Maybe you'll learn something, or be inspired. We'll just have to see.
But before we begin, if you are a writer and want to expound on what I've written on a more conceptual level, I'd appreciate a nod like 'inspired by Jest' with a link to my page in the description of your fic. This isn't necessary, but it would be nice. If you want to straight-up use one of my stories then feel free to send me a message and we can talk about collaborating on something.
But with all that out of the way, let's peruse the graveyard of ideas together.
Your Human And Me
This one will probably get released sometime, but it's basically a rant fic wherein I complain as to why I don't like the story Your Human and You, and fics that rip it off. It was completely edited and done but I thought it was a bit whiny and decided not to release it at the time. Look for this one soon, but be aware that it's pretty meta and fairly old.
The Worth of a Soul.
Only made it through initial planning but was about a story how the nightmare was never truly defeated. The nightmare also had all of the now-outlawed offensive spells locked away within it, which were things Luna couldn't relearn. The ghostly presence remained at the back of Luna's mind for years, unable to do anything but whisper. During Tirek's attack, Luna sells her soul to the nightmare after watching Celestia nearly be killed. She gives up everything for the boost in power, and the nightmare narrowly kills Tirek and saves the world. It was going to end with the reveal that Luna had been effectively killed during the exchange as she willingly gave up everything she had in order to give the nightmare a boost. It might have ended there, but I was thinking of a short series where they just sort of deal with the fact that Luna is gone, and the nightmare is here. The small twist was that the nightmare was so taken by such a sacrifice that she wasn't truly evil anymore, only morally grey.
The other possibility for this story that I contemplated was having Twilight and her gang get killed, and the Nightmare takes up the protagonist position of the mlp:fim story, with the nightmare, eventually becoming the princess of friendship and student of Celestia. Though this option would only be used if I decided to expand it.
The possibility of this ever becoming a real thing is relatively low due to the sheer amount of work necessary to realize it though there is a good chance I will write the shorter version of this story one day.
The Nightmare's Shadow.
This only ended up about a paragraph long and was basically a grim dark retelling of the tantabus story wherein the remnants of the nightmare bond themself to the tantabus and run amok before Luna finally accepts that the nightmare wasn't ever truly real and that she was always in control, taking responsibility for her actions and thus defeating the twisted tantabus.
Good chance this will eventually come back as a Halloween special type of thing.
Stable 76
Actually got all the way through the first draft before being dropped. Click here if you want to read that first draft, but be warned, it's old and rough.
This story is weird. It was basically born out of my hatred for the fallout 76 video game, wherein I wanted to fix all the issues that the game had by writing fanfiction. Not exactly the best motivation but then again spite can be a pretty good motivator. I had no idea where I was going other than Twilight leads her vault back onto the surface, establishes a city, and eventually finds her friends, stops a big bad, and unites the wasteland.
In the end, it was just an exploratory idea to test various concepts and will never be made into anything.
Twilight Sparkle's Beautiful Heart.
Is a shipfic/sadfic. It was halfway through being planned before being dropped. Twilight basically has an accident that ends up leaving her with a terrible heart condition. She is dying and is saying goodbye to her friends/family. It was going to more or less talk about how great the power of love was and end with Twilight and her girlfriends having a powerful moment wherein her issue is cured because magic.
As you can tell from that description I never finished outlining this one. It probably won't ever get further than this because of its issues, and the fact that I couldn't really make it interesting to write and thus likely wouldn't be fun to read.
Twilight and Rarity Make an Omelet Featuring Twilight and Rarity from the hit show My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic.
As you can guess from that title it was supposed to be a comedy wherein Twilight gets some crazy alien STD which turns her into a plant tentacle creature that has some mad sex with Rarity, accidentally impregnating her in the process. Thats about it, and though funny in my head, as soon as I had it outlined I realized how unfunny and not sexy it was. Though the title always makes me giggle.
Trading Stripes.
Is a very old comedic thing I wanted to write but never completed. It was basically about Pinkie Pie dressing up as Zecora and vice versa with the twist being that they were dressing up as the other dressing up as them. The twist was funny in my head, but in reality, it was hard to execute and a little underwhelming. It's some of my oldest stuff, but if you want to check out the first 10 pages, click here.
The Venerable Miss Rarity.
A strange clopfic wherein an older Rarity and Pinkie Pie duo to the nasty, with the twist being that Rarity has been single this entire time because she has been bonded with an umbra. My take on a sort of venom symbiote that basically allows her to look different while also having tentacles. It was also a strange golden years romance undertone thing to it. Not a bad story, but didn't get past planning because it wasn't interesting or sexy enough.
The Tartarian Princess.
Was an adventure fic wherein a much older Twilight is told by Celestia that she has to go and basically defeat hell. She reveals that the magic of friendship is basically soul magic and that Tartarus is about to invade Equestria. It was weird, old, and never got further than a simple description.
No chance of being made into anything.
The Mane Six Realize They are Dating.
Is fairly self-explanatory. Basically Twilight lets Shining Armor know that she will be attending their wedding but requests a single room with one enormous bed. Confused, he shows up in Ponyville and finds out the mane six are dating one another, despite Twilight not seeing it. Basically a polyship comedy about a clueless Twilight and six friends who have all never dated anyone before and eventually realize they like, like one another.
Unlikely to ever be expanded, but I really liked the title and comedy between the six clueless ponies.
The Flower Of Kindness.
Is a clop fic wherein it's revealed that Fluttershy has had a plant grafted into her nether parts. One which needs her to deposit some seeds in the forest once a year. Applejack sees her leaving her house one year and follows her, ultimately leading to sexy tentacle times. This is another story that ultimately was pretty good in concept but fairly generic in execution.
Might eventually do something with this, but only if it's requested/commissioned.
The Eternal Twilight.
Is a weird story of mine. It was outlined but never got further than that. The jist of it is that Twilight meddles with magic she shouldn't have and becomes truly immortal. To the point that she survives the heat death of the universe itself. She wants to die, but can only effect her past self. Thus she has to convince a million year younger version of herself to lose all her friends in hopes that she either offs herself or does something crazy to ensure she never messes with the magic.
A wild idea that sounds neat but is hard to actually write. This difficulty is one reason it was dropped and will likely never be finished.
Well, that's all 12. If you guys want to hear more of the many ideas I've dropped then lemme know. I have literally hundreds of fics that have been started and dropped over the years and have enough ideas to do this a dozen more times if you guys found this interesting.

that you didnt list a certain particular fic on haitus in this gives me hope i may oneday see it progress...honestly i've been tempted of late to see just how much it would take me dumping into your patreon to get you to dedicate a little time to it, but i like your other stories too much in the end to distract you from writing them

nah don't worry about it, i've waited this long for it i can wait a bit longer, besides i've got something coming up that will ocupie my time...hehe...cyberpunk shall consume me
ited be cool if someone made something of the level of FoE for a cyberpunk future, i've seen one story kinda like that but its unfinished, future where the sun basicly went out and society lives by the use of magic crystal called sunstones that power basicly everything, but these stones are runing out and so growing more nad more expensive, thus cyborgs (like the main charicter) that need them to live must work harder and harder to sustain there life...its an interesting premis, but id like to see yet more cyber ponies
I really like the concept of the eternal twilight I have a story in mind like that but its alot dark reason why the main character because immortal and omnipotent.
Much like the rest, The Mane 6 Are Dating sounds great.
Things created from a place of hate are typically bad. You'll get people who are likeminded who might appreciate it but in an objective, storytelling sense, it might be heavily flawed.

Yeah I think I might bring the mane six story since so many people have expressed interest in it. It was a really fun idea to spitball ideas for too so I know it will be fun to write.
As for the human and me story, I reread it recently and it didn't come off half bad. In fact, it kinda feels partially like an homage that picks apart a few of the tropes of the subgenre. Rather than a meanspirited rant. I'll post it this weekend and see what other people think.
I also wouldn't say that I hate those types of fics I just find them reductive, and a little reliant on happenstance. I actually read a few that use the formula but do so with enough flair and skill to make things interesting.
