Tom and Jerry (2021) Trailer Review · 9:45pm Nov 17th, 2020

At long last!

After so many days, weeks, and months of waiting, Warner Bros. has finally released a trailer for the upcoming "Tom & Jerry" movie, which is a live-action/animated hybrid film in the veins of movies like the famous "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

Before I share with you guys what I think of the trailer, though, I'd like for you guys to take a look at the trailer first.

Check it out:

Having watched this trailer six times today, I have one thing to say:

This movie looks awesome to watch!

Even though it seems obvious that Tom, Jerry, and the animals were done by computer in some ways, the animation used for them looks absolutely marvelous. From the looks of things, the animators found a way to retain the hand-drawn animated style and look of Tom and Jerry themselves while still making sure they blended well with the real world. It not only gave a sense of something unique and different, but also fun.

The comedic gags that were shown made it look like this film will be funny and worthwhile to see, and the production team appears to have been quite intent on being faithful to the style of the classic Tom and Jerry cartoons as possible. Plus, the appearances of Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, and Rob Delaney got me interested in seeing what their performances and characters in the movie will be like hook, line, and sinker, and the concept is something that I believe will make this movie interesting to see.

One thing's for sure, I myself am looking forward to seeing this movie, and I smell not only a comeback but a return to form for Tom and Jerry.

Last Minute Edit: The one thing I will agree on is that the animation used with Tom and Jerry themselves, and the rest of the animals shown, did look a little cheaply done in some ways. Perhaps if Warner Bros. delayed the film a little longer to have the animation team switch the style to entirely hand-drawn instead of using computer-animation with a hand-drawn look, it could help give greater interest in the film and a larger guarantee that it'll be successful.

I kinda got Smurf vibes from this

So, a bunch of people and Tom are trying to chase Jerry out of a ritzy hotel in time for a fancy wedding? :applejackunsure: Not something I'd make a movie out of, but okay.

They are pretty much the only animated characters in the human world

That was the only link for me

I can't wait for the new Tom and Jerry movie. I hope William Hanna and Joseph Barbera are gonna be so proud if they're still alive.

I only hope maybe Tom and Jerry will work together for a while....if they can...if possible.

It's said that archival recordings of William Hanna and Mel Blanc will be used here.
